Guys, I'd like to know what kind of batteries and regulator and switchs you all recommend. Do you think one 2400 Li Ion for the receiver and one for the ignition would be sufficient? Also I was looking at the MPI Miracle Switch. It has a regulator built in with a switch and charge port. Do any of you use these or should I go with the Formeco regulators. I am most likely going to run Hitech 645's for the elevator and ailerons and maybe a Hitech 5955 digital for the rudder.

With what you noted for servos the two 2,400 lithions will be more than enough. I'm not well acquainted with the Miracle Switch, but I'm opposed to having a regulator built into a switch. I highly favor the Fromeco regulators. If you look at the new Badger switches at Fromeco you'll see that they also now incorporate a charge jack. I have one and they are super high quality. Not cheap, but very good.

Is this done with one continuous piece of tape or is it cut near the front?

i did mine with a single peice.

I use the MPI miricale switches 5.5 for the ign and 6 volt for the rx. I like to use 2 switches on my 4800 li-on
from fromeco i just ask for 2 jr leads from them when i order or send them my batt to retro fit another lead just for the redundency on the switch and reg. One of my switches failed on my first WH extra 2 years ago so im a little gun shy on a single switch for my big plane. the fromeco regs are better but i went with these for weight savings having 2 and all.

I'd go with a cut. Every time I've tried the continuous piece it would start to roll or pull back when the weather got hot.

First, I recommend two batteries for the receiver. 2400 mah is probably enough capacity but does not give you any redundancy. Also LiIons are fairly limited in their current output ability, two of them would assure full power at all times.

I have not tried the Miracle switch, but I plan to.

If anyone has any more photos of the following can you please post them.

1) Throttle servo set-up (I've seen Redneck Shaun's, any others?)
2) Battery / Receiver locations (for balance purposes)
3) Choke set-up (Servo or Manual operated)

Also for those who have flown where do you have your CG set and are you following Tom's recommended throws for the control surfaces?

Anyone ???????????????

mine is cut into the tank traym just infront of the tank and off to the right of center only a smidge. the bottom of the servo is in the tunnel and i used 2 pieces of lite ply glued into place to screw the servo screws into.

My suggestion with a DA-50 is as follows;

If you are not using a canister, do as this guy did and just cut a hole in the tank tray.

If you plan to use a canister then cover the tray with 1/32" balsa to keep heat away then lay the servo on its side and glue down some blocks to attach it, or some guys might just glue it down with black RTV (crude but effective).

RS, It looked great! Only problem is my carb has the throttle and choke on the other side which puts the pushrod about even with the left upper mount. To use your method I will have to raise the servo up about two inches to get the proper alignment.

LOL...I was just pulling your leg.... At first I had both servos mounted on their side as the throttle servo still is. But when I went to run the pushrod it too hit the bottom right motor mount. That's why I built a small box to mount on top of the tray to set the servo in. At the time I didn't know If I wanted to run a canister or not. So I didn't compromise the tray.

The tape for the my Red Extra is laid down in 4 pieces. I ran a piece on each side then ran an overlaping piece for the front of the cowl. I then carefully trimmed the overlap for a clean corner. Pretty much the same for the rear of the canopy. Probably not the only way but seems to look nice.
