I started hinging tonight, this is the one thing I dread about building [:'(] so I doing it first. Before I did, I weighed the main components that came with the plane. Here's how they matched up with those from Greg Cothern's. Gregs numbers are first mine are in [brackets] after his for comparison. Fuse (bare fuse minus canopy, hatch, cowl, stab, etc) 2 lbs 14.6 oz's [2lbs 12.75oz's] Hatch (without canopy) 7.4 oz's [7.5 oz's] Canopy 9.2 oz's [5.75 oz's] I think Greg made an error here Cowl 9.2 oz's [8.5 oz's] Landing gear (without axles etc) 9.4 oz's [10.0 oz's] Wheel Pants (bare) 2.6 oz's [3.0 oz's] Right wing panel 1 lb 2.2 oz's [1lb 1.5 oz's] Left wing panel 1 lb 2.2 oz's [1lb 1.75 oz's] Right elevator/stab 4.7 oz's [4.5 oz's] Left elevator/stab 4.2 oz's [4.5 oz's] Rudder 3.4 oz's [3.75 oz's] Wing tube 9 oz's [9.0 oz's] Stab tube 1.2 oz's [1.25 oz's] Tail Wheel assembly w/hardware 2.8 oz's [2.5 oz's] Misc Hardware (canopy bolts, wing bolts, axles, etc) 3.9 oz's [4.0 oz's] Landing gear cuffs Greg did not have a weight Mine [.5oz's] Total 150 oz's (9.375 lbs). [145.25 oz's = 9lb 1.25oz's] Also weighed tonight: DA50 With slimline pitts muffler, Ignition, battery switch fuel line, and wire cover to protect from cowl rubbing [4lb 4.0oz's] Menz 22-8 prop [4.0oz's] Fromeco Batteries and reg's [13oz's] With these weights totaled up I at roughly 14lbs 6.25oz's and I still need to add (4) 5945 servos, (1) 5955, a throttle servo, linkages, servo arms, pull-pull, control horns, a receiver, spinner, gas tank, padding & straps, wheels and fuel proofing the fire wall. Now the trick is doing it and trying to keep it under 17lbs[;)]
