I have a OS 120 surpass, that has been running well for a number of years.
it has a c12 carb and a PG-01 pump.
I have just installed it into a new biplane ,
when i increase to high revs there is a loud screech as if the bearings are shot!!
can you still get new bearings, and how easy are they to insert, I am an engineer ...so this appears quite simple!!!

what ai an approx age as I bought it second hand over 2 yrs back?

rgds

Lee,

Your engine is an initial series OS Max FS-120 Surpass, which went out of prodution in 1989. Bearings, though are still available, since they're used in several current engines.

Replacement isn't difficult, but it requires you to completely disassemble the engine. You'll have to heat the case to remove the bearings Clean the case thoroughly, and reheat it to install the new bearings. Don't heat the bearings, though. Reassemble and you're done.
