heard of CNCZONE? that's all that site is dedicated to...well almost all.

Yep, that's what I mentioned earlier. I was thinking of putting it on RCU due to the lack info here. Most of the projects on CNCZONE were RC related. Having it here would show the newer RC folks that such a thing is possible......and cool .

Hey guys, I picked out a shop; I mean house, in Arizona . Going to be a while before I can start producing decent planes. My own personal "man-land" has begun to take shape.

Kelvin,

The move went pretty well. Thanks for asking. I'm new to the "home owners" club so I could not forsee my wife would imposing a honey do list before we even got into the house . Good news is that I've got most of it done and can begin getting the workshop together in a few weeks. I've attached a pick of what it looks like now. I need to install a ductless A/C system, paint the floors and walls, build cabinets, run conduit for more outlets, build a magnetic building board, and insulate the garage door. Sounds like a lot of work, but it sould go pretty quick.

It's funny that you ask. I'm still getting the shop ready and the Modkat is the first thing on my production list when it gets done. The shop is in such chaos now with the renovation going on. Not even going to try and get anything going in there right now. I thought it better to start a thread over in the Tips and Techniques section to keep everyone on the waiting list up-to-date on what 's happening.

Here's the link: 2C Garage to Ultimate R/C Shop Renovation

Hey, I'm still here and so is the Modkat. I haven't had a chance to work on it since I moved three months ago. Presently, I'm about a month away from finishing the plugs and making molds. The plan was to finish it after I get the the garage done, but now things look like they are going to change again. I just got offered another job that pays 30% more than I'm making now . It looks like I might be moving again, so I'm concentrating on getting the garage in a sell-able condition before the move. In the mean time I've begun CADing the next MRM-RCModels masterpiece; a Beechcraft Starship 2000 with a semi-autonomous flight control system. CADing helps me keep my sanity, because not being able to build really affects the mind . I'll post some pics of the new design when I get far enough along.

I believe this thread is overdue for an update . The new job and location is great and the baby is almost 1. Now I can finally start thinking about building again. In my hiatus, I designed and started building an all aluminum CNC machine with a 59" x 30" x 9" cutting area. When the machine is done, it will be able to cut anything from light aluminum down the hardness scale. I also plan on making the full 3D plans available to the public. Most of the components are at the machinists, but here are a few pics.

I am eligible to buy SolidWorks Student Edition 2007-2008(24month), is this equivalently the same as what you are using? If so its only $89 so I thought I would give it a try

Yes, the educational version has full capabilities. Only part that suck whenever you print something out it says "education version". Highly recommend it.

Sounds like a plan my friend

Got the CAD bug again and decided to re-tool the Modkat fuse. the lines are alot smoother now and the fairings have been added. Since it will be CNC cut, everything has to be perfect - no second chances......
