RCV Engines -> RE: RCV 120 Overheating problems (8/7/2006 10:46:48 AM)

Hi Zagzoo sorry to hear you are having problems with your engine. This is not normal and should be easily cured. Firstly, what is the serial number of your engine? You mention you have run 2-3 tanks through the motor. Have you run the engine in before installing it in your model? We would always recommend running the engine in on a test stand for 1-2 hours prior to installation. Secondly, with the SP engines you are better off using a fuel with castor oil eg. byron premium sports 4-cycle 10% nitro, or Omega 10% Thirdly with regard to the cooling, it is possible that the engine cut out is not being caused by overheating but either an engine problem or the needle settings. Have you taken the engine apart before? (if the engine is mistimed, you will not get the necessary power). If it is a cooling problem, I would try and get the engine working without the cowl firstly. If you can get it performing well, then we can address any cooling issues. If you cannot get the engine working without the cowl, then something else is wrong. I look forward to hearing from you. Best regards Laurenne
