Jeez, You think your doin ok and then you go and crash!
Damage:
Bent tail boom, two broken upper mixer arms, both main blade grips practically shattered, a SEVERLY bent main shaft, a destroyed canopy, a broken servo mount, one broken landing gear strut and a bent landing skid and gear stripping on all 3 swash plate servos (flipped out and had a spaz attack when I discovered this).
Manual Fixes:
Glued the servo mount back together
Cost of replacement parts:
Approx $60
Havin a good flight and then crashing because you paniced when your brain got mixed up in nose-in forward flight.
Priceless!!!
So here it is, two canopies glued together to make one and a still damaged heli...

Thanks for the comments guy's. My canopy is actually home made. I made a post how I did it a while back. I have just cut and pasted the post below. As you can see my heli has changed a little since I made the post but you shuld get the idea.

quote:

My god I had to dig deep to re-find this thread.

Right, this mod should have taken three days. One and a half moths later....... (ok, so I have fitted a kitchen and a bathroom too in that time, plus work etc, anyway) - here's my latest mod.

As jaq said, I suffered from a little rubbing  (after fitting the fibreglass XL to an HDE frame).
Some have cut holes in their canopy to stop this but I wanted it to look 'clean' so came up with this.

The first step was to find something to cover the hole made to clear the rubbing. I used a couple of servo mounts from an RC plank.

The next step was to make up a template so I could transfer the exact shape required to my canopy.

I then glued them in place and blended them in so the looked like they were meant to be there.

Last but not least came the paint. In my last house I had a heated workshop. No such luck in my new house. I have been waiting for the weather to change so I could start painting. It just didn't happen. So off to the shops - back with a big heater. I now have a heated workshop.

Many people have said they liked my old orange canopy. It was the best colour for orientation, I should know I have tried most combinations. - so orange it is again.

The paint is still very soft, so I have been unable to do anything with it yet. Grommets and graphics still to do.

Anyway, the last two pictures are how it sits on its shelf now. A couple of days and it should be hard enough for me to finish it off, but thats what I said in January.

mazakari, that is a nice looking blue bird. Great idea on those turbo ducks. I need to that on mine so the linkage won't rub my canopy.
