I am new to helicopters so please help.
I am hovering for the first time and smacked one of my blades in the grass. It turned upside down with the flat bottom showing on top which caused my pitch control linkage to bend back on itself. I snapped it off and straightened the best I could. Do any of you know a stronger pitch control linkage available?? Stock bends at the screw part to easy.
Also, how much angle should I have on the blades?? I have to throttle up to about 3/4 to get enough lift off of the ground and then drop throttle once it is up. I am trying to stay low to ground for now.
Any advice on setup for beginner?
Thanks,
Rockman

No i dont think there are any better or stronger control linkage for the blade. just buy some more and replace it.(If anyone knows of anything stonger, fell free to correct me). as for the throttle thats perfectly normal. 3/4 to get it off the ground and alittle less to keep it in a hover while in ground effect. ground effect is the air from the rotor blades hitting the ground and coming back up. you can hover longer in ground effect than out of it so its good for begginers to keep low to the ground. plus it moves the heli around some so you get better quicker.

Whatever you do DONT use a straightened linkage. I guarantee that it WILL break and its going to be at the worst possible time. Trust me ,I learned the hard way. The steel in those linkages is just too brittle to be able to straighten them. I personally dont think it would be wise to use a stronger 1 even if they made them. Especially for a beginner (like me). I would rather break and replace a 1.50 linkage than a 20 dollar main hub or a set of blade grips.

I have priced the linkage at 3.99 for 2 of them. Seems expensive to me. Do you have ideas of where I can locate this part cheaper?

That sounds about right. You could probably get them cheaper online but then you have to pay shipping and it would end up costing more. Them linkages dont get bent very often so 1 pack will probably last a while. You dont need to replace them in pairs either. Just do the bent 1

I had the same problem and have bent both of my pitch control linkages with a crash, and re-straightened them afterwards. Next trip to the hobby shop I'm going to stock up on these parts.

For setting blade pitch, check on this link on bladecprepair http://www.bladecprepair.com/man_mr_setup_and_adjustment#zero .

Finally, don't forget to set blade tracking after setting pitch.
