Great Pictures. Wonder what your setup is other than the Aiptek camera?

I have the camera mounted on the left side of a Kadet Senior. I soldered a wired across the trigger button on the Aiptek 1.3 camera and I trigger the camera with a relay attached to a spare channel on my radio.

Have you resized those images or are those the default size at the highest resolution?

loops,

I did have some pictures at one time but I don't know what I did with them. When I get a chance I will take some new ones.

The way I mounted mine was to take a piece of aluminum and bend it to a L. Then I mounted it to the side of the plane with the camera mounted to the top of the L. The biggest problem you are going to have is vibration. Try to mount the bracket on some rubber washers to elimate some of the vibration.

If you search RCU for AIPTEK, you will find a lot of different ways to mount the camera and some good info on how to trigger the camera. I took my camera apart and soldered wires across the trigger button, then I used this switch to trigger the camera via the radio.

Hope this helps.

http://media.putfile.com/BellAir-Flyers-55 I saw this link on a demo video from the camera. The run time in this video was interesting and I noted no trigger used.

I just got the Aiptek 1.3 pencam. I have taken video by pressing the record button before take off, but I'm curious on how you made the switch for snapping pics. Do you have any info on how to modify the camera to take pics with a switch on the remote.

I used it and press the video mode on for the whole flight. Snapshots you need to configure a servo and pushrod to depress the switch repeatedly and it's probably better to do that inside the fuselage with a hole for the lens to 'see'. I had one customer show me he epoxied a mini servo to the camera, and the control horn depressed the button, which worked precisely with ATV set. Sorry, no pics. He's not a PC user. I found refurbished units now available for $19 each! One word of caution, the battery door opens on mine easily now in flight, so tape it shut and save your memory card and batteries from falling out, much less not get any video/pics at all in the flight. Double sided foam tape is all I use to mount my camera in various places on the plane.

LOL that $99 camera is $19.99 new at aiptek.com right now with the memory card free. Buy 5, share it with your RCU buddies and get free shipping, coupon free6. I just ordered a bunch just now. Pencam 1.3 is what that is called. Ebayers like to make 500% profit? I sold mine for $36 since shipping was incurred. Oh well. Profit isn't a dirty word. Hope everyone checks out the direct sale website instead. Check out DV3100 and DV5900 deals now too which I also ordered. 1GB storage looked good to me on those and the recording is brighter, according to their tech support.

I wonder if someone could help me out here. ... I found the mini pen cam (refurbished) for $10. You can't go too wrong, I guess.

My first question is - what format does it put out? I presume that it's JPG and not some odd-ball format

My second question is - how do you trigger this camera? I remember some threads where folks had built circuits to trigger these electrically, or is there some better way?

Thanks,

Bob
