Now that is one good lookin' Tiger Jeff! Looks like the 'Tiki' camo paint scheme.

Very nice!

Been working on the Tiger. Adding new metal gearboxes, drive and idler wheels and also new metal tracks. Got a S&S upgrade on its way as well and the barrel { home made lol} at the back will house the on/off and volume switches. Anyway hope you like the photos, and you can compare the previous shots in this thread to these new shots.

DAP:

Those are fantastic shots of your Tiger and Stuart.

Do you plan to upgrade the Stuart suspension to metal track return rollers, road wheels, idler and drive sprocket? I have a Stuart but haven't done much beyond removing much of the armor skirt.

That Tiger looks like it can do some real damage. What paint scheme do you plan to use? I'd been thinking about going from 1/8 to 1/6 metal but I'm re-thinking -- I can handle the 1/8 fairly easily. And I'm having a great time with it. I might give it a winter white wash for fun.

Thanks for the pics!

Cheers....

Hey Navspook.

The Stuart is about as far as its going. Maybe some #'s or unit markings. Converted it to a Futuba radio. It has an air compressor in the turret with a hopper. Depending on where Im going it can shoot out (not hard) confetti for the kids, flour, talcum powder, or chalk powder for smoke effect. I have another Stuart that will someday get the Rolling Thunder conversion to a prime mover. You can see part of a 21st Abrams in the picture. That has been converted to a Futaba also. Its going to get some monster motors someday. Get some speed oput of it.
As for the Tiger Im torn between DAK or #s33. I'll probably do s33 as 33 is my number. With all the research I have done I have come to the conclusion that the actual color is impossable to define. So, Im painting it the shade I like. If someone who was there comes up and tells me its wrong I'll repaint it.
You really dont relize the extra work involved with a 280-300 pound toy. I try to move it out of habbit and it hits me that its 50+ pounds more than me. The turret alone is about 40 pounds and its empty at this point. Whole new meaning to backup batteries. Wife has already banned it from the lawn. She didnt say anything about her flower bed.
I plan to add the 12 gauge blank unit as well as smoke & sound.
Wich 1/8 do you have?
I sold my 1/10 Sankyo type 74 and my Sankyo 1/12 Tiger. The Abrams is for the kids. The odd scales are tuff when your shopping for goodies. I'll stick to 1/16 and 1/6.

David

I have the 1997 RC Armory 1/8 King. I need to do some work on it over the winter, probably replace the servos in the turret and maybe re-install the .22 cal blank 9-shot mechanism that the former owner built. Otherwise, it runs great. Weighs about 65 lbs.

I use a ramp to get it on-off the work trolley. Even though it takes some special effort to move and store, I'm stuck on the larger scale armor. I might look for a used 1/6 Armortek Tiger, which might be very difficult to find under $6000 here in the states.

We got over a foot of snow last night so I might see what it can do if I have the chance later today. I'll post pics.

Put a hoe on the back of yours and convince the wife it's to help till the garden! Of course you'll then need some new accessories...

Have you put it through much off-road mud, sand, dirt, water, etc.? What a great machine!

Cheers...

Im with Jeff. Snow? Yuk. I grew up in northern Illinois. No more snow for me.
I looked long and hard at the RC Armory stuff. Very nice but I wanted to stay 1/6th. I heard R/C Armory will have a 1/6 Stug in the fall. Might have to get one of those.

My Armortek has never run. Motors are not even in yet. The instruction are vague at best. It will be awhile before its under its own power.
