How do you know that they are not monitoring this board like people looking through the one way mirror in an interregation room?

Sounds like they are waiting for the responses generated by their platform statements that will come out in the AMA rag.

I know two of the three and would consider either up to the task.

I also share a common club with one of them.

I suspect when the time is right the door will open and and the sheriff will speak to the lynch mob.

I want to hear what these guys have to say that are running for District 8

Guy Barber, Lawrence Harville, James Rice

I don't know anything about these guys.

Please, lets hear from them.

Lynch mob is being kind at best. If I were one of the 3 this is the last place I would come. Most would just rip them apart just for their own pleasure.

When it comes down to it, just vote for what you know, not what you want to know. I know that I wouldn't be posting here tho if I were running.

There are more clever ways of swaying a vote.

I know Lawrence Harvell- he does not use bad language or cuss, thats alot for the typical candidate! ... but he did ask me to " find another club" cause my plane slide underneath a table by accident.

Dosnet matter who you elect they cant save the AMA because electric guys dont wana fly at gas clubs and buy AMA ( Ive asked them) and older (non renewable) gas guys which are not growing in nunbers each year are not going to switch to electric to make electric people feel welcome. The only thing you could do is either open electric fields that you yourself would never attend cause your a gas guy-- or put up a sign electric welcome and let electric guys fly on Sun-- Wed... then they would join AMA.

You guys are the ones killing the AMA i know a club that took a vote against an .40 size electric plane/pilot just cause his plane was cooler than thiers.

At least one candidate agrees with you. In a reply to me he made these statements among several more.

>>>>>>>>>>>>
//snip//
"I do not intend to go on RC Universe for campaign opportunity. I am sending letters to AVP's and other District Volunteers asking them to have people read the campaign statements when they are printed in the MA and to encourage people to vote even if they don't want to vote for me.
//snip//
I understand your desire to get the nominees out in front of the voters but I think anything done before the AMA releases the statements is a disservice to AMA and Model Aviation.

<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

To each his own, however IMO the disservice is to the membership when relying on the limited amount of space allowed to a DVP candidate.

You know as well as me this forum is "limited". Very few guys stop by here unless its for a good laugh. At times good info is spread here but 9 times out 10 its another kind of BS spread.

sure it is rare to not get just more of the same BS by the time a thread gets to page 2, but the OriginalPost can be a really, really long bio & platform expose/monlologue by a candidate... even have links to other places to get his info. He doesnt have to respond to all the cooks telling him how wrong he is- but I'd like to see some 2-10page indepth info about a guy. Imagine campaigning from a podium at a rally/convention- He can use RCU to post a written 20minute speech (if it is still a speach if unspoken?), then walk away.

What better purpose for this particular part of this forum than to hear from these guys. This is what I think the AMA discussion section should be about!

Horrace you are not improving your chances of ever being back in Muncie.

And your point is: ???

Here I live in a district where the DVP isn't running for reelection, yet you have not seen/heard me ask for any requests for nomination, nor is my name on a ballot of three (maximum allowed) rather low experienced persons within the AMA political arena, so can you see any evidence that, at this time, I am worried about getting back to Muncie?

Hope you have a better Poker Face if you participate in the game than you have a knack for reading and digesting my inputs concerning AMA.

This thread has been running for more than a week with less than 650 hits at the time of this posting.
The district has more than 20 times that many members so a 5% coverage isn't much of an incentive to use this forum. Also the 650 hits doesn't give any clue as to how many are actually from the district or how many are repeat hits from the posters in this thread.

Horrace,

FYI The name of the hobby shop that Jim Rice owns is 2nd Chance Hobbies. Not 'Last Chance'.......

Good guy!

More 'local' than West Texas!! Or Ft. Worth!!! (where the other two guys are from, I believe) You WILL see him at events! Not the BS-BN that Frank was!!

I also expected Chief to take it or Bill, too!

quote:

ORIGINAL: Hossfly

Jim Rice is currently an AVP under Sandy Frank. Owns Last Chance Hobby Shop in Universal City, couple blocks from main entrance to Randolph AFB, north-east corner of San Antonio, TX. 210-945-8221.

The name Lawrence Harville is bouncing around in the noggin' but I can't pin it down. Guy Barber -- total mystery!!

I surely flunked my predictions in big time. I certainly would have thought it would be Doug Powell or Bill Lee. See what I know!!!

Let's not be too condemning of these guys yet. Remember the nominations only happened on July 16, '06. They've only known this for 3 weeks or about. They are getting their statements/platforms together for the AMA's MA mag. so they gotta' have a chance. If they post big things now, by the time the ballots arrive in Oct. most members will have forgotten who's who. Hey, it's happened to me!!
