Sorry if this has been posted before but I didn't see any other posts about this.

I just found out that Hitec has bought Mulitplex. You can read about it on Hitec site http://www.hitecrcd.com/MikesSpace/Press_Release_Multiplex.htm

This IMO is huge as now Multiplex will have a wide US distribution and Hitec will get Muliplex's awesome technology.

This subject has been discussed to death some weeks ago both in the radio and in the jet forum.

I guess the next marketing move is to have a big name using/endorsing the brand

I couldn't imagine you not knowing and it not being discussed but I couldn't find it in the radio forum. And since I don't fly jets..

Jets forum.... that is weird...

The reason its been in the Jet forum is because the pilots tend to use all 9 or 10 of the available channels and are usually looking for more. Some varieties of Multiplex offer 12.

Then there are the flexibility/ease of programing/total capablity issues which make a big difference to setting up a jet since they use a substantial amount of a high end system's capability (read 9Z vs 10X vs Multiplex).

While most of the range issues have gone away with the newer turbine ECU's, there's been the ongoing discussion of which system provides the most solid RF link, not to mention failsafe features. They all use a different style of RX front end electronics.

And I won't even mention the chest beating about who's best for jets between Multiplex, Futaba or JR since I fly Airtronics.

So there's always radio threads in the Jet forum.

Mpx does not need reviving, it has been quite happy doing well in its own market. America is not the world.

You are sooo right.Too bad they couldn't survive in Their world !
No offense ,didn't mean to step on Euro toes
The "center" of the world does seem to be headed East nowdays. I doubt Multiplex will ever change their track record outside their world regardless the marketing group.

I agree Harry--they don't need reviving--they need exposure. Since I appear to enjoy MPX products here in the US, you would not believe the private emails I get wanting to know about the transmitters and servos. Harry is in the UK and Roger is in Canada (great white north) and for some reason people here on RCU think I am the guy in the US of A. That tells me that there is interest in the product and that nobody knows about it. (if people are emailing me with questions that tells me a bunch about how under-marketed this product is. I ask Harry and Roger questions!

Survival had nothing to do with it. It was a privately owned company and the owner retired so he had to sell it. It was not a failing basket case saved from the dustbin by the Japanese. In much of continental Europe it is the mass market radio. Its Twinstar is one of the biggest selling models of all time on the planet. Its gliders are some of the most respected scale sailplanes. Just because Mpx didn't care about heavy marketing of its radios in the USA doesn't make them a failure.

Didn't mean to trigger your defensive instncts Harry. It is obvious no one in Europe was eager to take over the reigns . Just a comment on the general direction of manufacturing.
We have been there before no big deal . Sounds like a win-win deal to me.
Now ,IF Merco ever takes over YS,

May be the 'obvious' should have read 'likely' ?
Oh well if some one with the money had wanted them more than Hitec.......?

I still own a Merco twin plug .60.
It still runs and I have it in a Sr. Falcon that I built in 1969. My Kraft Signature radio with the metal gimbals controls it on 53.400.
