Been having fun w/all kinds of glow eng. for 15 yrs. and have never had this prob. Does not matter if the plug is new or used, after a perfect performance run, the plug coil is broken, after just one tank of gas! I am using OS #8 and a remote glow mount, could it be the remote setup is shorting out some how? or is it an eng. prob. Somebody out there must know, thanks.

A lot of people are going to suggest that you are running it too lean. Just make sure that you back off 300 to 500 RPM on the rich side after you peak it. Never take off with the engine "Peaked".

A couple of other things: Are you using a shock absorbing mount ? Depending on the engines attitude, these can sometimes shake a glow plug element to peices.

Also, after starting your engine, be sure to remove your glow heater before you run it up to the high range. Leaving the heater in place, and running your engine up to high, is a quick way to cook plugs.

Let us know what happens. - Jim

What engine is it, and what is the history? At the very least take the backplate off and poke your head inside

Most every time an engine of mine started to destroy glow plug, it was a bearing who started to lose its retainer and the small particules were getting to the plug destroying the element.

In that case I just replace the bearings and clean the engine and the plug problem disapear.

Too high compression will also kill plugs. You can fix this by shimming the head, it dosent take much to reduce the compression. Good luck!!
