Dick, Definitely don't miss either of those air shows...you're lucky that you are close enough to two locations. I see that you are having surgery....I hope all goes well....and in the meantime during your recovery, why not fly from a chair...Our instructor David sits a lot of the time while he buddy boxes people. I tried sitting one day when I was a little under the weather...it's amazing how different your perspective is. About that evolution 46 of mine... it's been aggravating!!! After David changed out the bearings in the front, and the gasket for the carburator, it still won't run...lots of deadsticks!!!! Yesterday Joel supervised me pulling my engine out of the SkyRaider and replacing it with the evo 46 pulled out of my Twist... today Joel and I tuned the engine...hopefully it will run better than the other....although I still maintain that my engine ran great for about 200+ flights before problems set in (plus it was a used engine to begin with) It's still a mystery to us. And yes, I will probably buy an OS Max next. The weather this week is "iffy". High winds 15-25...but the worst is the on and off thundershowers (we desperately need the rain though) I hope to be airborne at some point this week though. Today I ran face first into the corner of the not quite open all the way hatch of my SUV...knocked me clear to the ground...ouch...nailed myself right in the fleshy outer corner of my eye below the brow and above the eyeball...I was seeing double vision when I stood up ...very lucky it didn't get the eyeball....the guys checked me out, Joel gave me an icepack, and Doug who is a former EMT gave me the all clear....so....on to tuning the engine!!! I have my priorities!!! I flew the Funtana last week...David Storer put it up for it's maiden...all good, and then later Dougie (he sold it to me) Brad, and Stew supervised while I flew it for 3 take-offs and landings. Very exciting for me!!!!!!! I got a rudder hit followed by two other hits in the same spot, so I won't fly it again till David checks it out again...we tried yesterday, but the lightening alarm kept going off and we ran out of time. Hopefully soon! 3 more days and I will have been flying for a solid year!!! Bev

Hi Bev .
Well, the knee turned out to be quite a fiasco. They removed the spur but problems started almost immediately. To make a long story short, it developed a tear in the seluvial sack (spelling??) which literally poured fluid into the vacancy created by the removed spur. This swelled up and eventually popped. This led to an infection and a second surgery. I ended up with three tubes in my knee, two drains and one wound-vac which kept a negative pressure on the wound to help it both drain and heal faster.
The wound vac and tubes are all out now, and it is healing, but it is still stiff and somewhat swolen. I am on a home-delivered IV antibiotic, but I am able to get around... a bit of a gimp, but I get around.
I am a very active person and this knee problem has certainly put a crimp in my style. Julie and I were supposed to head down to Bradenton this past week for a little R & R but had to cancel that. Ah well, there will be other times this summer.
I am headed to one of our fields today where we are sponsoring an open house. County requirement because it's county property, but they pay for advertizement and we've gotten a lot. So, off I go here shortly to load up my trainer (gonna put guests on the buddy box hoping to gain some RC enthusiasts).
Later..
Dick.

The Pink Pilot Skyhigh Bev was seen to be flying again today at the AMA District V Jamboree at Markham park; now if she would rejoin her forum. After going to so many events where all the women graciously do the volunteer work it was nice to see one leaving voluneerism to sneak in flights. Bev I was thinking we should try to organize an open field club club event useing the Intro Pilot progam as a "partners (for the non P.C. crowd "Chicks Day" try to fly day". I just don't see how we can have 100+ pilots registered at our event and only one female pilot. The crazy part is we accept the 1/100 ratio as landslide turnout for lady pilots. In 31 year dof flying I've only taught 7 woment to fly. Bev what is it that we men seem to do to so revolt women from entering or remaining in the hobby???? With the advent of Electric flying the smell, oil, and noise are removeable from the planes. Maybe it's just the male pilots that now smell, are oily, and create noise. Ok so this can of worms is now open; run with it.

Absolutely!! Totally agree!!! Great idea!!!!!
We recently hosted an open house at one of our two fields. We had a very pleasant lady show up that wanted to give a shot at flying RC, so we were so very happy to put her on the buddy box and get her up in the trainer. So, we did, and she was totally thrilled AND did very well. I hope that this trend continues. This is a hobby that should be shared with everybody that has interest in it.

Gentlemen, good morning from day 3 of our AMA District V Jamboree!!!!! I can now say that I have flown in a Jamboree!!! I flew RIGHT pattern yesterday and had a good landing (no popping of the prop, and taxied back to the gate) .....I am SO EXCITED!!!!! Ivan just took off with his 3D Edge 540 with a DA 150!!!! Yesterday we had a LOW...right down the runway fly by of real vintage aircraft ...3 of em flying out of Opa Locka airport!!! Plus a huge group of warbirds put on a demo complete with bomb drops, the combat guys did a combat demo, and Pablo flew a twin turbine DC10 (UPS colors) with a 12 foot wingspan and 12 foot fuselage....WOW!!!! OH MY G*D IS IVAN PUTTING ON A SHOW RIGHT NOW....INVERTEDS, TORQUE ROLLS, HOVERS ....ALL INCHES ABOVE THE RUNWAY....AND HERE HE IS LANDING HARRIER STYLE TO APPLAUSE!!!! I've got the best seat in the house here under my beach umbrella at my pink heart painted table in the pitt area right in front of the impound and next to Dave Storer's table where he is announcing from. He just took a picture of me...I'll upload it to the thread....and include the picture I took with Pablo and the DC10 yesterday....Pablo says it weighs about 42 or 43 pounds....he called it a "giant Foamie" More posting soon........... Bev

Bruce, I would have to check on UPS's history to see if they had formerly used the DC10's before switching out to the MD-11's. (since the MD-11 is the "next" generation improvement from the DC-10....perhaps that's why the UPS skin colors were used...or someone worked for UPS...or hates FEDEX....sorry David and Angel!!!) In any case, I got great video of it's flights....a real crowd pleaser, especially the low passes and the roll. Bev

Hi Bev. Did he let you fly that DC-10?
Dick.
Dick, I didn't think to ask!!! Although I did get an offer to fly the 30 something percent Piper Cub, and I've been invited to that club to fly at....which I'll take them up o
