Bev,

I am sorry to hear about your loss. I am sure it must be difficult to cope with the loss of a parent. It sounded like you were close. My sympathies go out to you.

Gentlemen,

Your kind words of sympathy both here on RCU and by way of email have truly touched my heart. Again, I'll say what a wonderful group of men are in this hobby...it seems to attract the best of the best.

Mom's little brother died less than a month before Mom died.....(yes, it's been quite a couple of months here) Both my Aunt and Uncle were members of AOPA and owned 2 small planes...I had been looking forward to my Uncle coming into town for Mom and taking him out to the field to see what I "flew". I'm sorry that never happened.

This past Tuesday I finally went back out to the airfield and flew with my friends...once on my mini-stick, and then on "OPP's" including an electric "eagle" which was really cool to watch soar around the sky.

Thanks in advance to the moderators for indulging me in this post and picture.... Since many of our RC pilots have served in the military or have sons and daughters serving now I wanted to share this with you...we are now losing so many of our WWII veterans due to age... Mom was a Navy "Wave" in WWII and one of my proudest moments as her daughter was receiving her flag and last salute for her service to her country.

May God bless all who serve!

O.K. gents...back to flying!

Bev

Bev - again, sorry for your loss. I was able to finally see your club flying field a couple of weeks ago when I was in Miami on business- nice facility (I wish that the town I live in would do the same for my (and other area clubs) and met a couple of the club members. I'm sorry that I can't remember thier names, but really nice to talk the hobby with other folks, they had nothing but nice things to say about you. They were also able to direct to the Hobby Super Store near your field. Beat the heck out of sitting in a hotel room. Sorry that I was not able to met you face to face.

Sorry to hear about your mother Bev. Mine is getting up in years and that isn't a call I'm looking forward to either.

As far a packing for the B-777, bring what you want. Even a woman can't overpack for that plane.

Uh, you guys realize there aren't any passenger seats in our planes, don't you?

I've slept on packing crates before... Actually, it can be more comfortable than airline seats.

Inflight movies? Heck, there's almost enough room for an IMAX theatre in that thing. And no, even YOU can't fill THAT plane. Imelda Marcos, maybe. Do you really have any idea how much room is in that thing? It has a revenue payload capability of 226,800 pounds (103 metric tons).
The 777 Freighter will be capable of flying 4,880 nautical miles (9,038 km) with a full payload. The 777 Freighter will feature capacity never seen before on a twin-engine freighter, accommodating 27 standard pallets (96 in x 125 in; 2.5 m x 3 m) on the main deck. The industry-standard 10-foot-high (3.1 m) pallets will be accommodated by the large main deck cargo door that will make use of the airplane's volume capability. The lower cargo hold has the capacity for 10 pallets, as well as 600 cubic feet (17.0 cubic meters) of additional bulk cargo.

A total volume of 23,051 cu ft (653 cu m).

How many shoes do you have?

If she's anything like Julie (my sig-other), well, she could put quite a dent in that capacity!! She wants to "rent" space at my house for some of her "stuff" (I won't put what I am thinking.. oops.. ).

And, if I go, Julie will want to come along just to go!! So, that makes two women that will need an awful lot of room for their "stuff".

But, truth be told, how many pairs of shoes can you wear on a vacation? Ok..Ok Bev .. don't answer that question..

I'm taking bids. Cash only. In a plane with no passenger seats the jumpseat becomes First Class.

Oh RCKen,.....where are you?.....we are in need of a fuel voucher....

Hey Bruce, Can we put an RCU livery on that baby so they can write off the fuel?

Also, with 23,051 cu ft, what size electrics can we fly onboard to while away the hours till we get to Australia?

Bev

We'll put anything you want on the plane. All it takes is money. We've had Pandas on there before. We carry cars, fish (big), horses and even elephants too. Electrics? I'd stay small but you could get a short flight on a pattern plane if you want. Probably about 30 ft after takeoff. The stop would probably be bad when it hits the aft bulkhead. I guess we could string up a cargo net to catch them.

Bev, How many pairs of pink flipflops do you own?

You season your shoes? Toe jam on the flipflops don't count.

I thought this was going to be a winter excursion to get away from the icy cold weather during the winter months.

Do you guys think that United would notice a few seats missing on one of their planes? We should be able to bolt them on the 777 with no problem.

Mmmmm,, having just read all the above posts, it seems like room aboard the 777 might be an issue. So having just seen a documentry on the C5 Cargomaster, wouldn't it be a better option ? There appears to be enough room to hold pylon races aboard to pass the time, plus it does have some seating for passengers. >>>>> just a suggestion
Bill
ps. it is still raining here too, i have managed only one flight so far this year. Maybe i should move to States.
