Hey Bev, I think you are the new RC Darling ! You got my vote anyway ! Wish I could get my wife involved.....Any tips to get her interested ? Keep up the good work(looks like your working real hard in the pic) lol ! You look like a true Florida girl ! In a good way............

Ray

Ray,
Thank you for the compliments! A couple of ideas for you to get your wife involved...Has she been out to your field? Do you belong to a club that holds events, or cookouts? It's a great way for family members to see what you enjoy (and commiserate with each other ). Have you had her on the sticks yet? Even if you got her to taxi the plane around your driveway (take off the wing first...don't want to go airborne into the neighbors upstairs window!!!) I think if she met your friends and found out it isn't quite so scary to fly, she just might like it. Another thought is "a fair trade"...you join her in something she enjoys (and you loathe) ...shoe shopping, etc. Good luck to you. I hope one of these ideas works!
"true Florida girl" ...yes indeed...I was born on Miami Beach...ya can't get more Florida than that!!!!!!
Bev

Ken & Bill,
Not sure if the gators qualify as RC unless you're talking boats!, However, the Heron does qualify in RC planes...hmm, is that electric or glo, and how many servos would you need??? I did see a 3 to 4 foot gator in one of the lakes out at the park a couple of days ago. Not worried about the little ones, but a woman was killed by a nine footer a few months ago just beyond our corner of the field (outside the park) but within a few hundred yards of it....yes the gator was caught a few days later (stomach contents confirmed it was the correct one) The west boundary of Markham Park borders the Everglades!!! (our flying field is on the east corner of the park)
Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom ...with planes!!!

Well at least you can see and avoid them, out at the field I fly at we have long grass the other side of the field where there are rattlesnakes or so I hear, I have not seen or heard ones, but we did get a warning in one of our newsletters about them http://www.sccmas.org/pdf/servochatter/sc_051506.pdf page 12 if interested I always take care picking up my crashed plane.

Now there is something to get excited about. Fresh meat for dinner!!!!!!

We have plenty of rattlesnakes here in Oklahoma too. When I was in the Army here on Ft. Sill we used to go hunting for rattlesnakes when we had some free time out in the field. Seriously good eating when cooked up with some butter and onions!!!!!!!!!! Yum!!!!!!!

JP,
From what I understand, Rattlesnakes are territorial...they set up shop, decorate, install surround sound and settle in to watch ESPN until evicted, so be careful out there. Never step between a Rattlesnake and his plasma screen TV . At our field we have been told to be careful after a lot of rain because the center of our field gets swampy (hence me drowning Ray's glider about a month and a half ago...OOPS!) and the grass gets tall because the mowers won't go out there. That's when we have to be careful of Water Mocassins...nasty beasties!!!

By the way, I just read your Servo Chatter newsletter. You've got a great club!
Bev
