Great photos! Thanks so much for posting them.

I'm wondering -- is the painting of the tiger's head and claws from an original tank unit? Makes sense -- maybe a G.I.'s taunting of tiger tanks?

Cheers....

Hello - and thank you. I will take a bunch of pictures inside very soon as well. Actually I plan to hit the Patton museum and then drive up to the Air Force Museum in Dayton (have to see the DVII). I then plan to hit Mason just north of Cincy to watch some pro tennis. I think I'll leave Sunday for this quick 2 day trip. Being in Ohio, have you been to the Air force museum?

Hello Nav - since I took these after the actual museum had closed, I was unable to ask about this particular tank - something I really plan to research very soon. It certainly had an interesting history to be sure scoring several kills in Korea as can be seen from the barrel. Those are T34 silhouettes on the picture showing them on the right - it also says T34 above each one as well. I can take hundreds of pictures if anyone is wanting a specific aspect revealed on the real thing. I am wondering if their King Tiger is on loan somewhere at the moment or not - couldn't find it listed.

Did the Pershing description say anything about the 1945 date on the fender? I guess it was manufactured in '45 and saw action in Korea or did it possibly see WWII action as well?

Anyhow my Pershing kit did not come with the Tiger Decal, that would look awesome!

Appreciate the pictures.

All of the tanks were dated that way - it might very well have been produced in 45 and served in both conflicts. I am very curious to find out the specific history of this particular tank. As I said, it had 4 T34 silhouettes with rings. I kind of gather that they posted these year markers on all the tanks to give visitors a general time they were in service or came into service. In that regard, its probably a notation particular to this museum, but this is pure speculation on my point. I don't recall what Aberdeen had on the back of their US AFVs and don't have any other tank museum experience to compare.

I thought I might do the HL Pershing like this tank, since I've visited it like an old friend about 20 times.

If I remember correctly...

Backyard Armor's decal sheet for the Easy Eight had a few Tiger-face decals, and they could probably be used as easily on a Pershing as on a Sherman. You might ask John if you can still get copies of it.

That's what I'm building my Pershing as ... an M26A1 with the replacement barrel with the single brake muzzle, deleted periscopes under the mantlet, relocated the barrel travel lock (etc.) and a decal from the BYA sheet.
