Does anyone have any experience with amphibious vehicles (a vehicle that works onboth land and water)? My amphiboat project will be a boat hull powered by an airplane prop with 3 wheels attached. This is the simplest design i can think of as there are no driveshafts or anything else that have to pass through the hull, and the one motor powers it on ground and water. I'ts also a drive in- drive out design. Has anyone had any luck with this or another method?

I built an airbout that would go as fast on grass as it would on water. It was equally comfortable on snow. You proabably could do something like that and add retractable wheels, but it'd be more complicated.

My project is now a controllable aircar. I mounted three wheels to the hull today and linked the front one to an inboard servo. The propellor gives it a good speed on land (and confuses the neighbors). The rudder works as well but as it's not watertight that just flaps uselessly at the moment. The wheels are fixed as they are quite narrow so wont cause too much drag- i'm not expecting it to plane anyway.

Sounds fun! So is it going to be steered by rudder in water and wheels on land?

I have made a few hovercrafts that have worked great on land and water and snow. There alot of fun and all you need is some cheap foam board and some balsa wood.
