Here's the new Fazer:

Ailerons are slightly enlarged, H-stab/elevator is slightly enlarged and re-designed with balance tabs and opened up to 45 deg. of rudder throw, rudder is greatly enlarged.

I also built up my own fuse for it. Instead of the stock 1/2" solid balsa fuse, I built it up with 3/8 sq. and 1/4x3/8 balsa, and 1/4x3/8 spruce for servo rails and a couple longerons for strength. Moving the servos to the tail eliminated the Fazer's nose-heaviness with the 46-class engines. End result: EXACTLY the same weight as the solid balsa fuse. To the tenth of an ounce. *sigh* : Some weight savings did come, however, in being able to use 1/16 ply for the fuse doublers instead of the heavy 1/8 ply that came with the kit, since my fuselage was inherently stronger, and needed less reinforcement. Also put flying wires on the tail.

If I could hover, I'm sure it would do it quite nicely with the GMS .47 on the nose. Takeoff roll with a 12/4 prop is about 3 feet, and it goes straight up like a rocket at full bore. Was practicing some knife-edge today. It'll almost knife-edge loop, just doesn't have quite enough rudder throw to bring it out from the vertical downline. I can increase it a little more, hopefully that'll do the trick.

thats the best looking fazer I have ever seen. The fuse is too short(hieght) thats why it doesnt knife loop like it should. so what was the final weight on it. Ive had a couple of fazers but they had .32 in them. good job.

Thanks I don't have an AUW on it. Wish I did, I'm curious myself. When I checked the fuselages, I just took 'em over to the deli dept. in the grocery store and had them weigh them on a digital scale. They'd prolly freak if I brought the whole plane in...

I'd like to build another one at some point and put a 32 in it to see how it does with the much lighter engine. That's about 8 projects down the road though..

I think I've built my last .40 size funfly plane, well, untill I forget that I made this statement. I will probably build funfly planes for .40 size 2-strokes or .53/.63 size 4-strokes though, but it will be enlarged .40 size planes. I think I can build an enlarged Aerone (60" wingspan) which will weight the same as the stock Aeron. Since the whole hardware-electronics-engine package weighs the same, the wing loading will be significantly reduced, for a much more fun plane. My Aeron came oout a little heay for my taste, it flyes great, does some funky stuff in the air, some times extremely fast waterfalls, and with the not very light wing loading, it is very easy to land. Much of its ability in the air, I think, comes from my +/- 70-80 degree throws on basically all controll sufaces, plus its SHORT tail moment and thick wing. I do think however, that I could build a 20% larger Aeron, that would weigh the same in the bones. This means that I could have a 60" wingspan Aeron, with a YS53 on the nose, weighing about 4.5-5 lbs., now that would be funny.
After flying larger planes (Morris .60SuDoKhoi, S2G Extase and Great Planes UCD3D), I realise how much better the larger planes behave in the air (read Reynolds number here). Well, just my humble opinnion about this crazy hobby he he.

DKJens - I built a larger version of the Aeron. It is a 65" wing span with removable wings (aluminum wing tube & sleeves). I increased the width of the fuse to accommodate the elevator and Rudder servos in the tail section. I am posting a couple of pics for you. - Kevin
