I just bought a blade cp. How long does it take to recharge the regular nimh batteries? How long does it take to recharge the lipo batteries?

The nimh takes about 2 and a half hours.

As far as lipo, it varies on how you want to charge it. The best you can do is an hour charging at 1C, but sometimes its better to charge at less current(for longer battery life)

My CX battery with the stock charger takes about an hour and a half. I assume the cp pro battery takes about the same time to charge.

I found that with a full depleted stock Nimh battery, and the stock charger, it took 3+ hours for it to fully charge. You can tell when it's fully charged, because it will start to get warm. Don't let it get hot. Once you feel it starting to get warm, it's done...

I have an Eflite11.1v 800 mah lipo and I think I may have puffed it a touch. I use a watt-age Charge-it-all sport and noticed it was charging my battery to 12.5v I felt the battery and it feels like there is a little air bubble inside. I cant tell a difference by eye. I bought a new battery (same type) it feels like that a tiny bit too so could it be a manufacturing variance? It seemed a bit worse last night. Is it safe? Im using the eflite charger now it charges through the balancing plug.... should I use it or chuck it? One last question...does the eflite charger shut off when its done? And exactly how fast do I have to be getting it off when the green light goes out...seconds..1 minute....2..?

When the light goes out it doesnt charge anymore. You could leave it like that for a couple hours. As for the bubbly battery (personally) I would keep using it until it really looks like theres something wrong. A good safety measure is when you charge your batteries place them inside a small metal toolbox or ammo box. That way if something goes wrong at least the fire will be contained and not burning your desk or something flammable.

Yea, I'd keep using it too. I found that my lipos after charging are commonly a little high, I'd say it's probably normal although I couldn't say for sure.

A 'puffed up' Lipo is a bomb waiting to go off. It's not a matter of if, but when. If it's only slightly puffy, you could likely use it for quite a while longer without any trouble (except for the fact that it's damaged, and can't deliver as much power any longer). However, the NEXT TIME you charge it, it could blow.

If you've never seen a lipo fire, go to video.google.com, and search for lipo fire or lipo explosion to see videos of it happening.

Lithium burns at over 2000 degrees F. Also, it burns upon contact with oxygen. So, if the battery continues to puff, and then pops like a balloon, a couple minutes later, you get a very hot fireball that will cause anything flammable that is near it to instantly combust. It will burn your house down probably before the fire trucks arrive...

If it is puffed up, don't risk it is my advice... Neutralize it and throw it away...

If you don't know much about lipo batteries, do some web searches. There is great info all over the place about how to properly treat and care for lipo batteries. If you treat them correctly (just as a knife or car, etc.), then they are perfectly safe and excellent 'tools' for work and play

thanks everyone. Ive seen the vids online thats why I was so worried in the first place. Right now I charge my batts in a ammo can but the eflite charger doesnt have any leads...but if it shuts down when its done charging then it shouldnt matter and I can put battery , charger and all into ammo can to charge. Ill keep the lightly puffed one in a seperate can for a spare if I need it.
