Here's a video of Alan Szabo going nuts with the new Trex 600....and I do mean nuts.
Turn your volume WAY up for this one...and hang on.

It just looks like he's ringing it out because the camera is shaking so much. [:D]

Somebody shoot the camera man.[:@]

ct420 -> RE: INSANE HELI VIDEO!!!!! TREX 600!!! (8/11/2006 5:03:43 AM)

I've seen some other vids on google of him doing similar. That guy is amazing!

I am REALLY fighting the urge to buy one of those 600's [:@]

I couldnt believe the poor heli stayed together after watching that. He was stressing it to the limits for sure.

Alan Szabo rocks. Go on to wikipedia and look up radio controlled helicopter. They have one of his good 3d videos showing. It’s pretty cool to become part of the definition of RC helicopters.

choppersrule -> RE: INSANE HELI VIDEO!!!!! TREX 600!!! (8/13/2006 8:46:49 PM)

Alan Szabo is an unbelivable pilot.. Nerves of steel. His ability and confidence level are the extreme.

Amazing video, I watched it several times. At around 3 minutes and 38 seconds into the video he does strike the ground with the skids (listen carefully and you can hear it) but just keeps on going. This guy is amazing to say the least. My blades off to him.

I've also seen videos of him striking the ground with his blades inverted. Now THAT'S gutsy.

SkyUp -> RE: INSANE HELI VIDEO!!!!! TREX 600!!! (8/14/2006 2:23:58 AM)

And to top it off ...
... a nice AUTO finish ...

... the guy's amazing ... whew!

Great video, thanks for sharin' that one!

J-Cube -> RE: INSANE HELI VIDEO!!!!! TREX 600!!! (8/14/2006 4:06:44 PM)

It's videos like that that made me go out and get a Blade CP in the first place. Hopefully... next summer... I will look like that! [:@][;)]

thecheatscalc -> RE: INSANE HELI VIDEO!!!!! TREX 600!!! (8/14/2006 4:21:46 PM)

after I got over the "kill the camera man" stage I was QUITE impressed, even though he DID tap the ground once... [;)]

One thing i'd like to know, can a li-poly take that kind of abuse? that looked like a LOT of strain on that poor thing!

credence -> RE: INSANE HELI VIDEO!!!!! TREX 600!!! (8/14/2006 10:34:02 PM)

They can aslong as they're rated for the discharge. Most LIPO's are safe to be discharged at temps up to 120F (~50C) which is quite hot. You can go even higher than that of course (140F being the max for safe operation) but you short the batteries life in doing so.

The packs he's running should be more than fine, though, under such high current draw situations, i'm sure they won't last as long as if you treated the packs kindly ;).

bdavison -> RE: INSANE HELI VIDEO!!!!! TREX 600!!! (8/15/2006 4:55:30 PM)

Honestly, I dont think he could care less. If that heli burst into flames mid-flight, its not his problem. The thing was probably scrap after that flight anyway. I cant believe the spindle didnt just bend in two.

thecheatscalc -> RE: INSANE HELI VIDEO!!!!! TREX 600!!! (8/15/2006 6:04:50 PM)

hehe, he probably got paid to test it! [:D]

rc2007 -> RE: INSANE HELI VIDEO!!!!! TREX 600!!! (8/16/2006 3:56:48 AM)

no camera shake at all, awesome camera man, for an electric...incredible

credence -> RE: INSANE HELI VIDEO!!!!! TREX 600!!! (8/16/2006 5:17:07 AM)

The spindle is actually quite thick on the t-rex 600, and it uses two dampeners on either end. I think you'd be hard pressed to bend it short of crashing.

I'd be more afraid of the blade grips snapping under that use if you're using the stock plastic ones.

Reading threads like this re-inforces my feelings that a lot of you on here have no clue at all about RC helis[8|]

"It just looks like he's ringing it out because the camera is shaking so much. "

I have been flying heli's for the last 5+ years and for some reason this year I have been hearing the term "ringing". What does this mean??? I have asked most of the other people around our local flying clubs and they have no idea what the heck it means also...

thecheatscalc -> RE: INSANE HELI VIDEO!!!!! TREX 600!!! (8/23/2006 5:38:57 PM)

the camera man wasn't that bad, but, he COULD have widened the view a bit, it's nice to see more than the canopy!

PS: wringing? I dunno, I guess they meant that he was making it jump all over the place...

Motions -> RE: INSANE HELI VIDEO!!!!! TREX 600!!! (8/23/2006 5:54:08 PM)

Just means your flying it at it's limits or whacking the heck out of it. Might be a southern thing. [sm=tongue_smile.gif]

ct420 -> RE: INSANE HELI VIDEO!!!!! TREX 600!!! (8/23/2006 6:18:29 PM)

'wringing it out' - Such as the way one would 'wring out' a wet towel or cloth. That's where the phrase comes from. Yes, it is from the south [;)]

You can't really make a comment like that without stating why. The next time you want to make a big ego comment for no reason...don't.
