Futaba openly launched their surface 2.4 GHz radio program at the German 1:5 scale r/c car nationals they took 1, 2 and 4th place from all accounts it is now a FHDSS not a DSSS system as it had been. Gee I wonder how that was influenced. Great Job Futaba

For us un-initiated, but very interested in 2.4 ghz Spektrum technology...what do all those letters really mean...and does it indicate that large planes will soon be flying with this new radio...or is it simply another goody for the surface group?
thanks.

Frequency Hopping Digital Spread Spectrum and Direct Sequence Spread Spectrum are the two main methods of Spectrum communications. The principles are too tedious to explain in full. Essentially most DSS systems for our homes are FHSS, they resist interference by finding open channels rapidly. DSSS does not hop channels but instead uses all of the band at once. This is faster and more effecient in theory, but can be a problem if too much of the data is lost through interference. In RC this most likely would come from people using FHDSS systems at the same time. You can combat this effect by using better processor/transmiter etc but obviously the price of the Radio would go up. Frankly I think all of the manufactuers should just decide on one method and go with it.

There is NO best anything in RC. No one CARES about what is the fastest. Asking same question a million times WON'T help.
