I think it's a bad idea.

Elite, what are you looking to do. Is this going to be a rock crawler, racer, etc?

K, I am confused. Last night I thought elite was going for a low CG chassis. But after rereading I guess not. Don't be so quick to go with the New Era racing chassis. As Battle Axe asked what do you intend to do with the truck?

driving in the grass, jumping, driving in the dirt, maybe an occasional rock crawl.

Then I would not get the New Era racing chassis. The only regular CG chassis they sell are the extended (as far as I know). Sounds like Chronic's are your best bet.

I spent most of yesterday servicing my Savage and putting the HPI LCG chassis on. I still am not throw but close. I all so am changing all my shock and diff fluids. I went to the X A arms and diff cases and baulk heads. The X roll bar works with some very miner modification that only takes a couple of seconds. Hope to finish it up later today.

I want to see some pics of that monster when it's done. I can't wait to get mine rebuilt and running again. I'm going straight to the track. I really need to pick up another Savage to use as a tester. It sucks to have so much downtime... when it's not even broken.

That is, if this LST2 doesn't kill me first... I've been putting that thing back together for a week now. Everytime I get close I remember something else. I've got $400+ worth of mods on that thing now and I've only been able to run it a few minutes at a time before something else creeps up on me. It's a good truck, it just hates me. I got the engine ported yesterday and flew home today to drop it in only to remember that I already used it's new clutch shoes in another truck, so I have to wait on a set of those now

I am all so going from a 133oz steering servo to a 208oz. I do not even want to think what I have in my Savage and even when I get it back together this time I sill have more I want to do like 17mm hub conversion and a LRP .28 Spec 3. I have been REAL lucky as I have not stripped any wheels yet with the 14mm hubs but I do check my will nuts just about after each tank of fuel. But I know when I put the LRP in I better have the 17mm hubs.

What do you think about the light transmission gears?

Never run them, have no idea.

I don't even want to talk about how much money I have in the Savage, and I REALLY don't want to talk about it with my wife.

I can vouch for the 17mm conversion. Just threadlock the wheel nuts. They like to come off under hard use.

i have the 17mm convession that comes with CVDs. i have pics in my profile.
as for the transmission, i have a reversing 3 spd. with titanium drive shaft (its the only titanium shaft that can be used with the 3 spd. and reverse. the 3 spd. weighs more than a light weight 2 spd. but i think the 3 spd. goes a lot faster. (plus its just so kool to hear the truck shift twice. )

ps. i got the new era chassis, low cg engine plate, and the purple nova engine mount. im excited.

ps. (again) how do you do just a simple smily face? i cant find it on the list.

Same here, the universal conversion. If you on a budget, HPI also has 17mm outdrives for use with dogbones. From what I've experienced, there isn't any advantage in durability between the two. I have yet to experience a snapped CVD pin.

The only problem I've had is some slop between the supplied purple drive hexes and the axle stubs. A package of Mugen hexes tightened things up.
