will this fit on a stock savage x chassis?

EDIT: 1 more question. is this a good idea? is it worth it? (not too concerned about the price)

That engine plate will fit a stock truck. The only difference is that the mounting points for the TVP are integrated into the plate itself, instead of requiring the use of the cross braces like the flat stocker does. The reasoning behind this is that the braces interfere with the rear driveshaft once you go LCG.

That HPI racer setup is awesome. I would love to have one, I just don't want to pay that much for it....

Why is it awesome? There are several going on auction over here in Germany.. The normal new price is €125, but they're going for less than half that..

Is it good for bashing?

Racing. It provides better handling by way of improved suspension and steering geometry.

I agree about the race set up looks really nice but way over priced for what you get. I am in the process of installing my HPI LCG chassis kit and other up grades I have been collecting for the last couple of months.

ok, i think ill get the engine plate, maybe because i already have the hot bodies heatsink 1 but it needed dremel work to fit on the x.
im still not sure about that conversion. im not crazy about only having 2 front shocks, or having that aluminum hub thing in the back for bashing. that turnbuckle pops off as a failsafe on a bad landing and with this its not even there. i dont realy race, but sometimes i go to a weekend race at the track.

For that price of the engine plate I would get the LCG chassis that comes with the engine plate and lowers your CG 7 MM more then the X and 12mm more then the other Savages.

Don't forget that you cannot use the rotostart with most engines with this LCG TVP. You will have to get a pullstart. Not so cool.

According to HPI web site with the X bulkhead and shock tower set up you can do a little trimming on it and make it work with out much problem for the roto starter. I do not have a problem with my pull starter!
This is off there web site.

For the original Savage this set requires the use of a pullstarter engine, engines with Roto Start are not compatible. This set can be used with the Savage X and a pullstarter or Roto Start engine, slight trimming of the Savage X plastic

VERY COOL

I am pretty sure it will, if you give me about a week I will be able to tell you as I hope to have mine back together and I have a X roll bar and engine guard to put on it. I have been told others put it on the older Savage so like I said I think it will fit.

I installed the LCG kit into my Sav last week and here is what I've found.

1. The original Savage roll bar will not fit. The one included in the kit uses a different bolt pattern in order to fit the TVP's. On the other hand, the Savage X bar will fit, since it uses the two upper transmission screws on each side.

2. The engine plate sits too low for a center rear universal axle to be used. The universal's hub hits the back of the plate.

3. You will want a wider body than the original GT-1 body. This is due to the exhaust pipe being dropped 12 mm from its original position, and resting on the curved in edge of the body. You might run into this problem with other, after market bodies designed for the T/E Maxx and Savage. The Savage X GT-2 body will work perfectly.

4. The fuel tank sits so low on the chassis that any possibility of puncturing the tank with the left upper shock screw is eliminated. (Unless you break the tower )

5. The new Sav X bulkheads bolt right on. I did have to work the plates onto the steel pins in the bulkheads, but its just a tight fit. No shaving or trimming was needed.

6. The LCG chassis makes the truck far more stable, yet it can be kind of twitchy. Probably the result of the lower center of gravity.

Hope that helps
