I got an HB2 FP from Hobby Lobby about 3 weeks ago, which I've given to my father, and have had a Blade CP for a week or so. I bought the Blade because the LHS had it, but darn it they're going out of business at the end of the month. (maybe they'll have a nice blowout sale though)

Anyway, I'm a complete newbie to helio flying. I've been using the RADD system, which I think essentially means when you first start, if you can't hover in an imaginary 1 ft box....shut it down and start over. By doing this....I haven't broken ANYTHING on the BCP. Now I'm not bragging and trying to say I'm some sort of prodigy. Most of my flights last only a few seconds. But I'm now getting where I can stay in one spot for 30 sec or so at a time. Now I know that doesn't sound like real flying, but it is, because I'm in control.

I did break a skid and nick a main rotor on the HB, but that was from flying it outside and not being used to the wind.

At first I didn't like the BCP because it seemed so twitchy, but now I'm getting the hang of it.

So to sum up....if you're breaking lots of parts, slow down and learn to hover in one spot. If it takes off in an unexpected way....don't try to correct. Shut it down and start over.

BTW: the BCP Pro came out like a week after I got mine, which really pisses me off, as it seems like a lot better deal for not much more cash. Especially w/ the ability to easily upgrade to brushless.

Drphoto,

The Radds school is the nuts. Keep up the good work on following his direction. It's all about disipline and taking one step at a time.

You'll save a lot of money in replacement parts if you do. Just make sure your blades are balanced and trim setting are okay.

They can change with every battery pack. It's almost impossible to install the battery in the exact position everytime for the CG.

You may have to add or subtract a couple clicks on the right stick elevator trim. Just take off and hover about 1 foot off the ground.

Let go of the right stick, just for a second or two and see what direction the heli wants to go and make the appropriate adjustments.

It may take 2 or 3 takeoffs to get it set right.

Best of luck,

Dave / Choppersrule
