sweetpea,

I made a battery tray out of 1/8 ply and mounted it behind the canopy, on the shelf the top of the fuse foam is glued to.

I should take a picture, worth a thousand words, but the CG is perfect.

I'll be building one of these soon. Will be using the parts out of my WH 33% extra 260:

BME 110
5955 elevators
5955 rudder
5945's ailerons
5955 throttle
645 choke
std mufflers
power expander
2600 lithiums
scott(texomalaser) is building me a engine standoff right now.

This is where my batteries are placed running a BME115 on stock mufflers. (two 4800 Fromeco's "behind" the rudder servo) The ignition battery is placed on the motor box. Can't remember where the CG is but the plane needs a tad more tail weight, time to move some batteries, but not far.

Move your tail servo to the back. There is already a servo mount there. I have my servo in the back and the batteries where yours are, but I have a 3W 106

My servos are in the tail. I also have a 3W106 w/cans. I put my batts up front because I didn't want the plane tailheavy for the maiden.

I think back of the hatch will be just about perfect.

sweetpea,

Here's the photo I promised (battery tray), I'm running the DA-100 with cannisters. I also closed out the cannister tunnel and put in aluminum angle for the landing gear cross member. I have easy access to both wing bolts too.

Did some work on the sukhoi tonight. I've cut the hole in the carbon and ply motor mount plate. I mark the plate the same as the firewall and drilled a small hole at centre. I then followed that up with a 2" hole saw, then finished off the final shaping with the dremel. The plate has some very minor flex in it at present but I believe once the motor it bolted up it will add more strength and eliminate the flex all together.

I got the motor mounted to the airframe this evening. I can now start to work out throttle and choke linkages, canister setup etc. I will also have to start on some sort of baffle to help keep the motor cool. As you can see by the pics the motor fits entirely inside the cowl. I may have to cut a small hole at the bottom for the plug cap though.

Nice install!! DIdi you have to put them batteries back there for weight distribution?
