What is the secret to getting the wrinkles out of this covering? I've spent the past hour making more wrinkles with my iron.

Use a heat gun and glove to heat the wrinkle till it stretches then lightly rub it down with the glove. I use one made for this task but I think you could probably just use a towl or rag.

Probably not the only way to do it but seems to work pretty good for me.

Use an iron to seal the edges. After that the heat gun and cloth method always works the best. The covering pros use a cloth and iron when sealing the edges to keep any scratches from marring the color edges. Some go a little farther and use a solvent to activate the glue at the edge of the colors and stick them in that manner.

Thanks... I'll go invest in a heat gun tm. Also, does anyone else's top hatch not fit? I read earlier in the post someone had this trouble and just cut out the slots a little more. I tried that but the front of the hatch won't slide under the back of the cowl.

I had the same problem. My solution was to slot the mounting holes for the cowl and added spacers to the top edge of the former that the cowl bolts onto.
The Sukhoi is a great flying model.

There are three of us in our club that have these and we have all had the same problem. Very easy to fix. In my case I just lengthened the slots on both sides of the fuse that the canopy tabs fit into. If memory serves me correctly I made them about 1/4 inch longer towards the rear of the plane. I also rounded the edge of the canopy tabs and this made the canopy slip in a little easier. You still have to be carefull to get everything lined up but it works just fine.

You may not have this problem but the bolts on my canopy kept working out so I used Toms suggestion to knock out the blind nuts on the tabs and made a tap out of a 1/4 inch bolt to tap the wholes for 1/4 inch nylon bolts/screws. Haven't had one come out since and I probably have around 80 flights on my Sukhoi.

As mentioned above, you will love this plane.

No. The DA spacing is 40mm and thge 3w spacing is 36mm. Also the 3w port face is angled I think about 15 degrees, the DA port face is parallel to the bore.

Yep.....that is why my local guy cut and rewelded everything and made them look like 3W exhausts.....

Thanks... I spaced out the cowl with some 1/8" ply and that was enough. I've already drilled out those blind nuts on the hatch and tapped for 1/4" nylon bolts. I had the same problem on my old Edge. I fixed that with a lot of Lock-tite. The nylon bolts seem like a much cleaner solution though.

Texo,

I used MTW75H cans and 50mm drop headers for a DA 100 then cut off the flang and brazed stubs on from KS that are for the BME 100,115

I got most of it from DA
Items are

EMTK2550L header
EMTK2550R header
EMTD75H X2 can
DA did not have the stubs instock but they said they were on order I got them from aircraft International. they are on the kS web page

The guys at BME tested this combo and told me to cut the header at 6.5 inch seems to work well.

6.5 inches is a little short. Charles ( flyinrazorback) mentioned thast with that motor and header combo , you want to keep the header length about 7-7.5" . he says that length will give the best performance.

The only flex headers I can find on the KS web site for the BME 115 say 350mm. Is that the lenth? They dont list the drop. Where did you get that info. I will try to get a mesurement for the drop off the BME.

JEFFR0503
Is flyinrazorback running the MTW75H cans also ,and what prop.

mbinkley
What prop are you running on that combo and what rpm are you getting

Thanks Rob
