I appreciate the offer but the Brushed motors just don't have the power I want. I will eventually get a B/L motor. I've been eying a couple different motors. When it happens I'll let everyone know how it worked out.

hey man I think a good condition motor propertly broke in have exellent power ! I am just on 7 cell and I can fly exellent now just like the hobbyzone vid. at begining I doubt on those vids claim to be all stock but after my wing replacement ! man my swift is a blast .. i got today 2, 8cell 600 mah batteries that i will try out tomorrow. here in Puerto Rico all morning are perfect to fly. I flew 8 days a week (on mornings ,, after 10:00 am just cant)

give a try to that motor you wont lose anithing just by try it. after all my frustration at begining with my swift I never surrender and now is one of my favorite park flyer from my collection (my Dynam Focus still #1)

I got my Swift shortly after Christmas and had it out six time and hated it. I was slow to respond and didn't have power, I didn't try my lipo's. On my flight last week it tip stalled and broke the wing. I through it away and kept all the controls to put in a spare SC that I have for parts. So now I can have a super duper cub with ailerons.

Hello again fellow Swift owners

The Comeback is Almost Here

Just spent a couple hours mocking up my Stryker C Brushless settup in my infamous SWIFT

Probably Re-Maiden in 2-3 weeks and will put up some pics on 1-2 days

Ronrico 418 rog won't be a problem - Then again for me it never was.......muhahahaha Swift Darkside? I actually miss my swift and I've been busy flying at 120 mph with my Mega Stryker 3S 5000mah CC80Aesc Also picked up the new blade 400 heli. Now I have dx6i and dx7. Blade is really awesome now if I could just hover. Flying at high speeds is much more comfortable than hovering. Sorry off topic Talk to you guys soon Ronrico

It's midnight do you know where your LIPOS are?

i've been flying the swift for over a year now. it's my 2nd plane after the skyfly. i still fly it stock and i still love it. my dad used to fly gas planes, but hasn't flown for nearly 10 years. i let him give my swift a try and my swift ended up having an unexpected encounter with the corn field. the stalks riped up both wings pretty good, but i just used some foam safe ca and some packing tape to tape it up and i'm still able to fly it with the damaged wings. have done about 30 flights on it so far with the wings the way they are. i have a new set of wings, but i figured why change them yet. i've recently started using the 9 cell bat's from my spitfire and mustang in it and it just screams across the sky.

Part of my problem is that I've burned out 3 brushed motors, two on my Super Cub and one on the Swift, because I run them on 3S LiPo's to get the extra power. Unfortunately I have no self control and go WOT too often, since they aren't really designed to be used with that many Volts they burn up rather quickly. That's mainly why I want to get a B/L motor so I can get the speed with out the worry of burning up the motor.

oh ok ! I understand you now better !! so you got all electronics you will need for go brushless? i only have 1 brushless plane and is my Focus. all of my others are stock brushed. and never got a burned motor just once in my slo-v and was my fault. I only have 1 lipo 3s and like 5, 7cell and 4, 8cell if I go brushless I will need buy lots of batteries and electronics that is way I stil on stock brushed

I don't have any NiMh batteries. I gave my Dad a Super Cub for his Birthday and gave them all to him. I have 5 3S 2100 mAh and 2 2200 mAh LiPo batteries so I have plenty of packs to take out to the field.

My friend just picked up a swift. It's an awesome plane, but we have a problem now. It was in a crash and now the little yellow tab that the wing spare goes through is broken. is there any way to strengthen it? Are there any other modifications to do to make it stronger any place else on the plane? I'm sure the answer is somewhere in the 34 pages, but i don't feel like scrolling through all of them so any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I'm glad you had such fun with the Swift. It is not an easy plane to fly.

In regards to the tab....To be honest I duct taped the wings to the body. It looks ugly as sin and you loose the ability to easily remove the wings for transportation, but they are rock solid on there and will take a huge trashing before breaking. Anyone else have other ideas? I know this is a very common occurance.

Coming soon, a Brushelss Motor report. I just installed a brushless motor in my Swift. If we get a rainless and windless day I'll give it a test flight and write a full report.

that happened to me also. what i did was cup a piece of plastic about the same width of the tab and used eppoxy to secure it in place. that will work but if you crash it again, it will evently come off. what i ended up doing was taking some 230 caulk or silecone, put a bead along the wing where it attaches to the body and secure the entire wing that way. i like the silecone because it will allow the wing to flex without snapping it.

You don't need to repair the breach. I actually increased the size of the opening for better access as the strength is in the walls/flange that surround the wings and securing the wings to the wing spar.

I finally got a nice digital camera so I can show modifications I've finally settled on after a year as improvements to my two Swifts.

After one year and many crashes I've come full circle to making modifications that make sense and wonder why I didn't think of them sooner. Some of my first modifications were too labor intensive, but I've learned a lot along the journey. I was determined to make whatever changes were necessary and successively fly my Yellow Buzzie without converting to brushless.

I will start another Swift modification thread around April 2nd (my son's birthday = Swift427 = the day i maidened the Swift and began my electric flying experience)

Hi all thought I would chime in on the ole Swift thread!

I got a Super Cub little bit over a month ago and that has been a blast to fly but I hunger for more...namely ailerons! Well I ordered a T-28 Trojan but that is still in the post (should arrive today). So before I did that, I bought someone's used Swift. They said it was a bit much for them so gave it to me cheap (20 bucks) just needed a battery since they killed theirs. No problem says I...got a few from my SC.

Well I went up maiden flight the other day. Wind was a lil heavier than I wanted at about 10mph. Ok, wow I noticed this plane FEELS the wind! I could see the Swift bobbing up and down in the air as I made some low to ground passes (lil scary!). I didnt like the low rates so switched to high rates right away for more control. It seemed to have a love for banking left at neutral trim (I had also lined up and adjusted the ailerons prior to neutral). I am thinking perhaps I should adjust the ailerons to look slightly "right" so I can have more trim control on the TX. The tail seems to be straight and level...so I am not sure if I should bother messing with that.

I tried a barrel roll...well I did it. Barely!...lost a LOT of altitude. Perhaps I need to move the control horns (A) in for more throw? Any suggestions on that guys?

Found landing to be really easy...just lined her up and glided very nicely if I didnt move control gimbal any. Slight flare before touchdown and I was changing batteries. Went through 3 batts worth...no damage except for some mud splashing...it's a swamp in Indiana right now. Got some footage will try and get that hosted later so any critques on flight.

I think I am happy with my purchase (it was awful cheap afterall) but I am not sure if this will really teach me much before I try the T-28..? Hmm. I am thinking the Swift and the Trojan are different beasties entirely.

Sounds like you had a pretty successful first flight with the Swift which is pretty rare.

You didn't mention the speed you were going when you were attempting your barrel roll. You should have it at full throttle. When you are in the roll, give the elevator, (the right stick) down elevator, meaning push it forward a little. This will help keep some altitude. I will give it this movement when it is just starting to get inverted.

The Swift seems to prefer to be flown at full throttle. It is not the slow, floaty plane that your Super Cub is.

One very important thing you have to watch out for is turning. The Swift does not like slow sharp turns. It will do what's called a wing stall and fall nose first in to the ground. (the death dive as I call it). It took me a while to learn to give it full throttle when turning.

I have a Trojan and it is much easier to fly than the Swift. So if you can master the Swift the Trojan will be a piece of cake. I really don't think the Swift is a good aileron trainer. I Also have a Hobbyzone Super Cub and converted it to ailerons after a few months of flying it and feel that was a great aileron trainer.
