Funny you should mention girls - while we were flying a heat yesterday, his phone rang about 3 - 4 times.
He got 7 calls / text messages from different girls while we were practicing!
We'll have him for at least another year - he's too broke for girls right now, spent all his money on airplanes!!

Ok, I've got some questions. I'm setting up my la 40 in the mounts. I'm using a 4.8x500mah batt, standard servos. I need to know where to put the engine [ fore or aft] on the mount. I read somewhere in the posts to put it as far forward as possible for balance. Due to fact that the hole for the rear mount needle will only let you go so far, where should I put it? Also is trimming for muffler clearance ok? Mine hits on fuse at side by firewall.

I don't have any weight in the nose or tail of my Racer, and I set it up to the specs lined out in the directions. As far as I know Todd doesn't have any weight in his Raider, and I'm guessing he set it up per the directions as well.

Trimming the sides to allow the muffler to bolt on is absolutely allowed. I'm running a 600mAh battery and standard BB servos.

I'm not sure if others have had to add weight, but with the LA up front and my battery and RX directly behind the fuel tank it balances perfectly.

The directions say 109mm. I guess I should read the directions. I just remember reading somewhere in the posts about moving it as far forward as possible.
Thanks. Mark

opa,

My LA is flush with the front of the beams. SK2 is assembled exactly as in the book.

Due to the softness of the needle valve assembly, the metric machine screw threads in the body strip quite easily. It is now screwed to the front of the firewall.

Jared,

You are the first person to believe, as I do, that there is not a need to add weight to the front of the SK2, when using an LA. With a Full tank, the thing is actually a bit nose-heavy.

Still, some feel more comfortable racing with a bit of weight in the nose. It does make the elevator less effective and promotes level flight.

I set mine up at 109mm from firewall to spiner back-plate. That puts it right at the edge of the mounts. I'm just about finished. Still needs some trim work. It was a all-white kit.

Mark,

We almost need a search just for this thread.

Check out http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/fb.asp?m=5334508 as well.

Is Club 40 Racing going on in WA also? If so, at what clubs?

Mark,

The best prop for the bushing motor on the skyraider will also depend on the distance between the pylons.

Also, as Don Stegall once pointed out, the smaller props make it sound faster!!!!

We have had 7 races at 400 feet between the pylons. Still aren't sure whether an APC 10 X 5, 10 X 6 or 11 X 4 is best.

So, are you having Club 40 races out there?? If not, and you want to, what kind of questions do you have?

We will be at the field tomorrow, the 14th.

Though there is forecast of over 20 mph winds, it will (is predicted to) be warm and dry.

Whever is willing to race, will have the chance.

Sweeeet! I'll be there!

The racing part won't be too bad...it's the landing part that might be a little rough!

Only Panzies are afraid of a little WIND!!

Bring 'em on out and have some fun!!!

Gates will open around 8:00 AM. - Registration at 9:00 and pilot meeting at 10:00

Racing shortly thereafter.

Any one ever landed a 'raider on a small carrier deck in 20+ mph winds??

Maybe we should include a "spot landing" contest?!?!

See you in the morning!
