Eric, There are several pilots in the Houston area flying with us over in the San Antonio / Austin area. Contact Don Stegal about shipping you a 'raider and then come join us for some fun. Our next race is in Georgetown on Nov. 3rd. We will be flying club 40 and then have a demo of 424 on a 2 pole course. PM me and I will send you a couple of contact e-mails in the Houston area.

Sorry to have missed the ARCA race, had a family thing come up. Grand Kids can get in the way of granddad playing. I plan on being at the GAMA race in Nov. Just ordered some Vipers and a Predator. I'm tired of swapping engines and rebalancing and changing the control throws the day before or the day of a race. Looks like .25 Quickee is going to be strong in the DFW area next year, and I plan on making the 424 races next year as well. Slow quickee, Club 40, and 424 should keep me busy. What length course you going to try 424 on?

Jerry, We're going to try out 450' and 500' as a demo and see how it goes. Our clubs don't have room for more than that. After a couple of demo's, we will decide on the course for the "Official" races next season. Bring your 424 to Georgetown!! Chuck

I'll bring a Viper 424. I'm thinking 450' is going to be a little tight. I tryed 400' and it was impossible, for me anyway. One biggg circle. I would guess 1:30's to 1:40's on 500'. 25 Quickee is high 1's low 2's.

Hi gang, simple question, where are ya'll getting the skyraiders from in Texas, Houston to be more exact. I want to get in on this fun, might even be able to swing a race or two at the club i'm a member of next year.
Hello Skull:
Maybe you and I should stay in touch. After the holidays, I am going to try to get this Club 40 going at Jetero. If you are in the Barnstormers, maybe we could do some inter-club or whatever might work to get some folks moving in the C-40 direction.
It is fun now that I am getting my ships trimmed and again getting used to flying these types of models. The short course makes for some serious attention to a relatively slow machine. I certainly wasn't in the right frame of mind at the Scobee field last month. so that proves a slow easy flier model isn't all that easy.
EDITED TO ADD: If you have not picked up on this little trait of both the Raider and the racer, they each have that same characteristic of the old Top Flite Contender and the Sterling SL-62, which can give you a fit in trimming the machines for no yaw. In straight and level flight, apply considerable rudder in either direction. The model will yaw in the dirction of applied rudder then ROLL in the OPPOSITE direction. Can make for some interesting little deviations if you aren't aware of this small aeronautical item.

Mr Cain it would be great to stay in contact and get a little racing going. Yes I'm in Barnstormers, and I think were big enough for a 2 pylon 400'. Right now I'm playing with a couple 424, 428 planes, they are almost to fast, I eat up space real quick. At the moment I'm looking at getting a plane and take it to one of our meetings and plant the seed in the club, and maybe set up a demo "Race Day" or something. I can think of 5 os 6 members that are just waiting for this to get going up here.

Mike Funk, David Gresens, and Butch Lucas (all from Houston) raced in the Austin Club 40 race last weekend. If you know them, talk to them and they will help you spread the fever...

Eric, I'm sure we can get a couple of 'raider racers to come and put on a little demo for your club. If you have a 424 ship ready, why don't you try to come to the Georgetown meet next Sat. Nov. 3rd? You can see the club 40 planes in action and we are going to do a 424 demo - test after the meet is over. We are going to run some 2 pole 424 next season at several of our group's fields. Chuck

Skull,
We are having the Toys for Tots at Houston Sport Flyers on November 10th. We are doing a race what you bring. Several of the club here fly club 40, 424, 428, and 422. It would be alot of fun to have several racers putting on a good demo race for the crowd. Our club is big enough to have a club 40 race. With Jetero, Houston Northwest, Houston Sport Flyers, and yours we would have enough to get the Austin, Dallas and San Antonio crowd over.
Mike
PS. How are you getting away with not be shot at with the noise from the 428. I flew several times at your field and had problems everytime.
