Here are a couple of pictures from this weekend. I hope to get a good amount (and maybe some video) for the trial run this weekend.
Also I'm planning on heading out to ARCA tomorrow after work for some engine tuning. I figured out that on an LA .40 to lean the low end you turn the air bleed OUT, not IN, which should help my idle as well as my low->high throttle transition out quite a bit! Especially since the air bleed is as rich as it will go! OOPS!

Averen if you have the time would you mined helping me put this race course on my G-3 that you made I tought I knew what i was doing but mabe not. I down loaded it and put it in my G-3 but i must be doing something wrong Thanks in addvance
You just need to import the field. Go to File and select import (I think it's import, not at my home PC at the moment). select the file and you should be good. It's not like the "old" style where you need to create a folder for it and drop it into the airport stuff...this way is much easier.

Never mind I figurd it out I was not looking in the wrong place. I see what you mean those pylons are to close to one another ,but its still fun to practics on. Thanks for you help.
The pylons (according to G3) are 400 feet apart...the hard part, at least for me, is that the angle of view is too narrow, I need a couple more monitors to make it right
In other news. I have posted some pictures from todays fun! I had a great time and I'm looking forward to kicking some at the first race...now that I've got her all leaned down and I'm turning the prop at 13K rather than 8K it should be easy to beat Todd...rather than letting him beat my by a measley 4 seconds!
Anyways...here are the pictures from today. I didn't feel like going through and picking out the good ones...so I just uploaded them all to my site.

First Annual AUSTIN, TX Club 40 Racing Practice Invitational
We had 14 pilots (4 in Novice - had never raced before) and flew 3 rounds under perfect conditions - sunny, 80 degrees and a slight breeze right down the runway. On the first heat, Ken Hopson and Jeff Tichenor rammed head on and lost both planes. Two more went in during later heats because they battled some trees...and lost! Since this was a practice race, no scores were posted, but fast times around the 400 ft. course were low 1:40s.
Most importantly, many new pilots had FUN and we had some new Course Officials who got a taste of experiencing Cut Judging and Lap Counting/Timing. Observers from neighboring clubs observed the race and received advice on how to set their fields up according to AMA requirements. They all left with a renewed interest in racing at their fields.
Bottom line: We accomplished exactly what we wanted to do - sow the seeds of showing how much FUN this level of racing can be!
Jeff - we probably won't have another "official" practice at ARCA for awhile. The next Club 40 Dance is the SEASON OPENER on April 7th in San Antonio. Write Ken Erickson (Contest Director) - kenerickson@satx.rr.com for directions to the field. There could be as many as 30 racers!
Here's a pic from Saturday in Austin...NOTICE THE TWO PLANES ON THE LEFT IN THE FRONT ROW!

Good report Jim!
Man what a great day! PERFECT weather, great friends and lots of good racing!. How can it get any better??
I can't wait for the first race of the 2007 racing season!
BTW - All pilots planning to come to the April 7th race at Prop Busters, PLEASE e-mail Ken or myself to pre-register. We will need your name, AMA number, class (Novice or Advanced) and frequency for pre-registration.
Pre-registration will help out tremendously with getting started on time.
Todd and I were out doing some testing today...we each got in 2 flights before the weather got bad.
We put up the pylons (we took them back down when we left), did some tuning and flew for a little while. One would time while the other would fly.
We have both improved our times by close to 40 seconds since yesterday! Guess putting on the right prop and getting the engine running nice makes a difference!
Anyways, Todd ran a 2:03 and I ran a 2:01. Much improved from Todd's 2:38 and my 2:42 from yesterday!
I'm sure with some practice on the course we could get down into the 1:50s.
We're looking forward to the first race in April!!!

Right, I'm amazed at the speed difference we're getting out of these LA's now seems like at least a 10mph gain from yesterday! ..And its only gonna get better..mine still has less than 1/2 gallon through it!! Todd
