It's true, the e-maxx excels in the area of breaking a lot and requiring expensive aftermarket additions to make it bullet proof and having a sweet aftermarket. The e-zilla/sav excels in the area of being damn good stock, but sucks in the area of aftermarket. I see a pattern...

And before anyone jumps on the bias bandwagon, I own both.

I have an E-Savage and think it's a great monster truck. I want to upgrade it some though, and have been having a problem getting two questions answered.
What is the Continuous Current rating on the included ESC?
And what is the Maximum Amperage rating on the ESC?
If anyone knows please let me know, because HPI and Hot Bodies are unable to tell me.

Hi BitHed

I noticed that E-savage diffs houses 2 bevel gear instead of 4 which is being used by its nitro counterpart...would you know a way to to modify it so that 4 bevel gears will fit?

...ope...no idea...It has crossed my mind but i never took it anywhere...Dood you gotta change that goop outta there ASAP too Nasty NASTY goop

...The BIGGEST bad point of the diffs is the 4 little screws holding them together...They are uber-crappy and we have had a few members snap them and then have to drill them out...the upside is that diffs are essentially the same as the MT2 and WK so it gives us a few options for fixes...Sorry that i cant help you...

Well I decided not to go with the Novak HV 4.5. I went with the Mamba Max and the Mtroniks Genesis motor. I am very happy with this set up. I am running Venom-racing 4200 batteries and seem to get pretty good speeds with it. I will try to post some pics soon.

Do you know if the Land Rover Defender body from HPI will fit the E-Savage? Number #7199

Anyone have a picture of this body on their ride?

Just to let all you nitro burners Know A electric motor with same horsepower as a nitro engine will outrun out accelerate and blow the wheels off a nitro rig, do your math. elec motors are also rated in horsepower using the Kv method but if you dont know the formula and think elec is for sissys than keep chokeing on them fuel fumes

so your saying that all elec brushless motors with the same kv have the same power? that means i can spend half as much and buy a mamba-25/8000kv comp x pack instead of the mamba max 7700 system. i thought they were rated in watts.

You have a point, I never really looked into the E-zilla. I hated the red bug body and didn't really know what Hot Bodies was. Then the day after I buy the savage I started looking and saw they were the same thing. The Savage has some tougher parts on it though, they upgraded the parts that were problems on the E-zilla.

I just traded some stuff for a E-Zilla and a E-Maxx in one deal. Now that some time has passed since this old post, I have some questions. I read in another forum that some of the upgrades from the E-Zilla to the E-Savage were not good upgrades. I heard that some parts with the E-Savage break more often than they did with the E-Zilla. I would like some opinions from owners of both.
Also has anyone figured out where to buy the best upgrades for the E-Zilla/savage? What drivetrain parts are compatible from the E-Zilla to the E-Savage?
And last, what turn motors will the Stock ESC handle?
I read most of this thread but it is old and there is some conflicting info. Thanks
