Flex is way over rated. 60 degrees is the max you would need. I use alot less then that on my linkless torsion stick chassis.

savagecommander You know that is the beauty of this hobby there is no right or wrong it is totally up to the individual person as to what is right or wrong. For me personally I like to watch the suspension work and do its thing, so I like a loose and easy on the crawl but when I come off the crawl I like to romp on it so I have to compromise a little and thats OK for me. I guess the biggest thing though for me is watching that suspension working while on the crawl.

So what ever way you decide to go just remember it is what is wright for you and nobody else, it's all about what you want out of it and not what someone else thinks you should get out of it.

Good luck and keep the ideas coming.

One thing I have been looking at for "dual" use suspention is muscle wire. What it is, is a shapeable wire that extends or contracts when electricity is turned on and off. (it issoft and plyable like a string and stiff like steel rod.) It takes as little as 3v to make them work. They use them in walking robots. My thought on this is a a sway bar set up or somthing that "locks" the suspention inplace for high speed use.

HEY Dezfan, Why arent you disrespecting people on this forum like you do on the RC CRAWLER site? If I'm such an idiot and you think that Nitro Crawlers are impossible then why dont you say it on here?............. There are many people here that are mature about what we talk about and we keep the name calling to a minimum. ...........PLEASE dont mess up this website like you and you buddies have at RC CRAWLER......

Mr. Styles,

I tried to PM you on this matter, but you have chosen not to accept PM's.

The reason I don't express my opinion in this thread is out of respect for the person who started it.

His first post reads:

OK First of all I would like to lay down some guidelines. #1, I would like this thread to be for the purpose of discussion of nitro rock crawlin and not that of electric (and yes I have both nitro and electric crawlers ) I have nothing against electric crawlers but that is like discussing apples and oranges and their are other threads on this forum that already com pair the two. #2, I would like to ask everyone to please stick to the topic of nitro crawlin. #3, Please no flaming or bashing and please keep it clean. #4, The reason I am starting this thread is because i like things to be as realistic as possible ( and we all know in the real world there are no electric crawlers or at least none that I am aware of ) and scenes in the real world the crawlers have loud, fuel burning engines then I guess are RC's should have loud fuel burning engines to.

For this reason I refrain from expressing my OPINION on the matter in THIS thread. I have expressed it here on RCU http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_4355693/tm.htm and I never stated they were impossible.

If you wish to continue this discussion on RCC or in another thread, I would gladly oblige you.

Dez

Sorry for the interruption, back to the subject at hand.

Hey Mr. E Maxx Hope you get to feelin better. I think Dez is doing a great job on keeping hemself in check here. He adds what is needed and nothin more.

Now back to the subject at hand, Nitro Crawlin. I finaly found the last part of the gearing I need. They are on there way fron China of all places. When I get stuck on a problim I play a brain stain game to get the ideas goin again. So what do you think of it?

Hey Dez

The other project is based on my current Nitro Tranny. I have ordered several of the gear sets to build two prototypes one nitro and one electric. The electric gearbox should be around 2.5"-3" long about 3.5"-4" tall and about 2"wide and have a gear ratio of ether 48:1 or 64:1 at the output of the tranny. It will use a standard 540 size motor. The Nitro gear box is similar but has a little bit larger case to have a "positive" engagement reverse and a few other things too.
