zeus_zosma -> Walkera 36 and 39 Two Words, AWE SOME (8/19/2006 1:20:28 PM)

Hello everyone I'm kinda new to rc helis. I must say I have a hobby shop in South Africa and have been flying fixed wings for years, but the entry level heli stuff that we used to get here sucked bigtime. So ok the higher end stuff was cool but still sometimes to high to come by. Then came the Walkera range entry level pricing, some leg work jumping hoops and so forth but the result was awesome. I went from a totaly novice flier to being able to fly figures of 8 in all directions and swapping them round in about 4 to 6 weeks and may I add with only two crashes with minumal financial hardship. I upgraded my 36's head to all out alli stuff (rotor head, blade holders, pitch bars, flybar sleeve, and swashplate) and carbon fiber mainrotor blades, carbon fiber print flybar paddles, carbon fiber print tail rotor blades and full carbon fiber tail stabilizers. I have a 30A Brushless speed control and the motor is the same as that of the Walkera 39's. Un Bloody Beleivable. I'm not sure how much head speed I've got but it's as smooth as I think can be possible. With my 2200 MAH 15C Batteries I get a good 15 min flight. Then again I must also add the threads you read are true, get rid of all the Walkera RX/TX stuff right away, I use my dead std JR X2610 TX with a R700 RX. I have changed the servos to the 1.3 kg E-Sky servos. I know I can't do any 3D stuff yet and so the W006 gyro will probably have to be changed but for me for where I at I'm as happy as can be. About 6 or so of my clients have done the same to their Walkera 36's and yes the same reply. Two words AWE SOME. The Walkera 39 on the otherhand is dead std a little bit exsentric but I get there soon just a tad to reactive still. But I don't want to de-sensitize it as I believe it makes you lazy from the start and then later you get bitten. I have a bit of hassles sorting out the tail wag on it still. Soon come. One thing I must say the compatability is awesome aswell. Between the Walkera range and the T-Rex stuff. I have compared it all. I can take all the T-Rex Upgrade and stick em on my Walkera 39, no problem. and even some of it will work on the Walkers 36 aswell. I'm currently contemplating the T-Rex 450 XL alli tail unit on the Walkera 36 and 39. And the the one MUST HAVE the alli tail rotor servo holders as the plastic on the Walkers 36 sucks. I have also taken the Walkera 39 tail rotor servo and placed it in the same position as the Walkera 36 on the tail boom, the shorter the bat the quicker the response time. These heli's I must say are ther best thing since sliced bread. I find it hard to get flight time on my fixed wing planes and I must say I'm a Die Hard RC enthusiast. The helis has brought something back I thought I lost a long time ago. That thumping heart rate, the jitter in the hands, the sweat on the forehead and that feeling of "WOW I did it, F...... A." Well enjoy the heli's it's a good reminder that the hobby is actually supposed to be fun. And fun it is. Anybody out there with any tips and tricks on setting up these heli's to be bigger and better PLEASE let me know Thank you
