Oh heres another boneheaded move. I got my swash on and the heli back together. I had blown my tail motor from my last crash and had another in the drawer so I waited till I was re assembling my heli before I installed it. So today the last thing I had to do was install my new tail motor. Well I guess with all the parts all over my desk I THREW OUT MY BRAND NEW TAIL MOTOR!!!!!!!!!!!! Damn what a dumbass. I get all that done and end up re installing my bad tail motor and didnt know it till I went to test fly it. UGH! Well, at least the new swash spins awesome. Head speed seems to take a little longer to stop while idling down. Off to the hobby shop tomorrow

I have done things similar to that. I just had my own bonehead move. I was disassembling my balde grips to see if my spindle was bent, because my CP is real wobbly. Well, the thing was a beast to pull off, and I said to myself right in the middle of pulling, "These washers are gunna fly everywhere." And sure enough, off the grip came and so did the washer. Can't find it. Guess I will be getting a new one.

BTW, is it possible for the spindle to be bent without the human eye seeing it? I rolled it on the table and it appeared straight, but it was hard to pull off and I already replaced the main shaft.

To all:

I think, I better start thinking more and make less DUMB ASS mistakes. LOL

We all get into, to much of a hurry and THINK we know what we are doing.

I'm such a DA at times too.

If your spindle (feathering shaft) rolls quietly on a glass or other very smooth surface--it is not bent. I use this same criteria to check axial runout in axles for group seven (high RPM) slot cars. I find the spindle shaft hard to remove/insert whether bent or straight.

If you rolled that spindle on someting flat and dont see wobble it should be OK. Just roll it on something you KNOW for a fact is flat like say a piece of glass.

Another thing that may cause wobble is the head assembly. The piece that actually slides over the end of the main shaft that the shear pin goes through. Ive bent one already and its REAL hard to see if its bent. Usually this will cause sticky collective. You have to unhook all your linkages from the paddles etc. Then slide the hub up and down on that shaft and if it feels at all sticky then its probably bent.
