Status: offline 		I've installed a 120 on the Mojo 60, and cannot keep the exhaust diverter on the very short muffler end, even with using silicone. The muffler really puts alot of oil on the rear servos. Can the toni spacer be used upside down to get the muffler 'kicked' away from the profile side of the plane? Do you have muffler ends like are on my lite muffler on my 76 so the exhaust diverter will stay on?

Also, in the end of the muffler there appears to be a 'reducer' that restricts the exhaust. None of my other Jett mufflers have this, what is its purpose?

Thanks for writing ........

How old is this engine? The jett mufflers have had a groove in the rear for quite a while now so that you can use a tie wrap to clinch down on the diverter. (see images). Does your muffler outlet look like one in the photos ?

If this one does not have a groove, then take a hack saw and put one on the small end, about half way back, all the way around, about 1/16" deep. Then try a small tie wrap. This should do it.

Using a smaller size tie-wrap seems to be the key. Others have used twisted-wire to help secure the extension.

The plug raises the pressure in the muffler. More pressure sometimes helps. At the lower rpm, the 120 runs best with the insert. You still need the hex to assemble, but then you want it smaller....... and the plug is inserted.

Status: offline 		The engine is new. I've got the 'groove', and have used the smallest tie wrap I can find. It still comes off. I've put a small 'bead' of JB weld in that same groove, all the way around, and installed the diverter again (gives it a raised ridge to allow the tie wrap to back against). Haven't tried it yet, hoping it will work. Wish the muffler end was similar to the lite jett muffler, I have no problem keeping a diverter on it. I think if the groove was wider on this muffler the tie wrap would seat in it. As it is, it cannot.

Thanks for the answer on the plug in the muffler end, as I wasn't sure it belonged there LOL

Engine needs more time on it before I can fine tune it (can't lean it out enough yet to get rid of a midrange hesitation), but it seems to have gobs of power (and I like that).

The toni adapter does not provide an 'away' or up kick, it only increases the exhaust end angle away more parallel to the crankshaft to help follow the bottom of the fuselage better. However, if that is what you are looking for, no doubt if you contact Dub he can provide you with one (jettengr@sbcglobal.net)

Btw.. on the midrange - if you are not already using one, try an OS-F glow plug.

Also of note...
Some time ago on one of the older mufflers (that didnt have the ridge) I found a piece of AL tubing that was the same ID as the OD of the exhaust outlet. I cut a small ring of it about 3/32" wide with a tube cutter. Then I heated/pressed that in place over the outside of the exhaust outlet. It made the type of retaining ridge we are talking about here.

The aluminum tubing piece sounds like a great idea. I'll look for a piece in the shop.

You're right, the tony adapter won't help me.

Status: offline 		The F plug was definately a good idea. Thanks. The diverter has stayed on now for several tanks since the bead of JB weld. Think I'll leave it alone til quits working LOL
