Bored again so I thought Id get a topic going here.
Since I want to go brushless but dont wanna spend 300 on a new Pro , or lose money selling my CP to buy a Pro, Ive conned my wife into buying me the 3 in 1 , RX and TX from the Pro and stick em in my CP. I told her mom I would install her hardwood flooring next weekend for the price of Brushless motor and ESC. lol Good deal for her.
So Ive been thinking about eventually going to a HH gyro BUT is it worth it. Half the fun of flying these micro helis is the work that goes into keeping it in the air. Constant stick input being the main 1. Im worried that going to the HH gyro will hold the tail too steady and take all the fun out of flying the thing.
I mean if I wanted something that just hangs there in the air and and floats around with little or no input then Id get a blimp. Half the fun of the micros are that they require so much more concentration and work.More satisfaction for the pilot.
But thats just IMO.

Psi,
I'm not a guru on gyro's, however, they normaly have two setting, a rate gryo, which is like the the 4-in-1 and a head holding setting, by flipping a toggle on the tx.
Also, there is a sensitivity adjustment on them, so you can dial in to your type of crashing, oops, I mean flying.
See picture below, my tx has a toggle switch on the top left of the tx. Forward, or towards you is the head holding gyro function and backwards, away from you is the rate gyro function

Is that TX for your new heli??? I could see having HH on a bigger heli for sure but I just dont know about the CP. Im torn on that 1.
I got mine back together tonight but I had to get the stock tail motor cuz they had none in stock for my DD. After flying with the stock motor I think its better than the DD but it should still have the dual motors for the lifetime factor.
Just have to find out where CT got his dual mount setup and what it looks like. The blue one at HeliDirect looks nice but Im wondering what its like for bein tough. Guys like me need it to take some hard hits and last lol

I think a HH on a CP would be incredible. Just have a nice stable heli that you would worry about pitch and roll instead of fixing the dang tail all the time. It would be so nice in my opinion.

Psi,
Yep, that the tx for the new Falcon 3D I got a couple months ago.
Tons easier to hover and fly. The size of the bird is a dead ringer for the T-rex and a lot less expensive, $299 plus $7 shipping. After 20 battery packs, I only broke one set of blades. Pilot error, got to smart for my own breaches.
See picture, left to right, Falcon, Blade CP and Blade CX. You can tell that the Falcon is somewhat bigger.
First time I spooled it up almost scared me, sooo much more power than the CP.

If you fly one with a HH you would throw rocks at a reg. gyro . To me a HH makes it more enjoyable to fly.The problem I am having with my Blade is whenever I am doing flips the tail likes to swing out,I think it is because of the proportional mixing going on with the change in throttle position when going from + to - and back to +. A HH should eliminate that. I have a Trex with a 401 and a stock(for now) BCP. Once my LG and brushless motor get here I am gonna put one of the new E-Flite HH gyros and a brushless tail on it.I like my Trex but I love my Blade, even though by the time I get done with it I could have built another REX. I think it is gonna make a sweet a$$ flyer.

The gyro won't make it alot more stable, just keep the tail in place better. Theres still tilting to correct for
HHs gyros can also be put into a standard rate by turning the gain down. Making it behave more like the regular gyros.
Honestly though, if you don't mind correcting the tail and your just hovering and some forward flight(no rolls or loops) then the gyro in the 3-in-1 should be fine. And you can always upgrade to a HH gyro later.

I really don't have much trouble keeping the tail pointed where I want it (on my stock BCP) just seem to do it without thinking. Only when the voltage really drops then it gets harder until I add some rudder trim.

why not just mod your 4-n-1 and add a brushless esc(instead of buying a pro tx and rx).It is easy and only takes a few minutes to do.
The main reason I dont want to do this is because you have to buy the Brush2less converter. I dont see a lot of info on this piece of electronics and am worried that it may have negative effects on the 4 in 1. Ive atually been doing some checking and I can use my normal CP TX on the Pro setup. Only difference is the knob on the top right that controls the pitch curves etc in idle-up-mode. But since I dont use idle-up and wont be doing aerobatics then Ive decided to stay with my own TX and just buy the 3in 1 and RX. The 3 in 1 and RX only cost 65 bucks together. The Brush2less converter costs like 60. So Im better to go with Pro electronics and not have to worry about side effects from electronics that may have glitches etc.

Is it a more docile flyer? Like a little more relaxing than the CP?
Yes it is somewhat more of a docile flyer (easier to control), but the power is incredible compared to the CP Just a little throttle and away you go. Like all helis, you have to have 100% focus or you lose it.

The 4-n-1 can be modded without adding a convertor. If you look at your 4-n-1 you will see where ch 3 is supposed to be then if you solder two wires onto the 4-n-1 to the pins for ch 3 you can wire up a brushless esc the way you normally do and you are done. You dont use the red wire in the harness that goes to the rcvr because of the BEC in the 4-n-1.
