Ok, I finally got around to building another fuselage for the orange/black twin boom, this plane has been through many modifications and different fuses. I wanted to incorporate the tilting camera mount concept from the Magpie AP and the wonder of quiet electric brushless power! After much research, I settled on the AXI 2826/10 (instead of the /12) because I am limited on prop size due to the way I had to attach the booms to the wing. (long story) It runs on 4s1p 3300 mah lipolys (from the ERaptor 50, theyll share) AUW is around 6 lbs. The grey hatches will get a black spray when I get more lustrekote, for some reason I have six cans of dove grey! The tilting mechanism will get a servo later.

Test flight is scheduled for Wednesday!

Mike

Sweet Mike,

It looks ready to fly and looks like it will fly great.
I've been busy but wanted to say I got a chance to look at your website. Great stuff.
My Daughter said I got a call from someone in Florida last wek when I was out of town.
My little girl didn't get the name. Was it you by any chance?

That looks great, cant wait to see some of your picturfes. Do you have a downlink from the digital camera? What is the wingspan?

Yes, the downlink antenna is the one up top, 600mw BWAV transmitter. Wingspan is 60". Its the wing of the Tower Hobbies Trainer 40.

Well, the maiden flight didnt go off without a hitch. Apparently the prop thats recommended for the brushless setup I have isnt for pusher config. or ?
After a couple of frustrating flight attempts, I changed out the prop and its better, getting more acceptable readings. Took a few flights with the camera mount fixed at different angles and got a few shots. All in all I learned alot about larger electric setups on AP planes today.

Hey Mike,

Are they all crisp? It's hard to tell on the size you posted. Did you try with motor on and motor off? What were the results? You know we gotta have more details.

I shot them all on the largest setting, they are huge! Some had a little vibration with the motor running, a couple I took with the motor off turn out great, cant remember which ones though!
This one is full size, RCU cut it down though! Doh!

I was curious about your camera, and when I got to the last shot, there is was, but I ad a bit of a problem reading the name, with some glare across the face, but after I realized I had a plasma monitor I just picked it up and tilted it to the right and read the name! It looked like "Canon," am I right. My ideas were of a twin boom pusher also. So thanks for the pics, and the push it gave me to get going again. I'm an old Marine, and from looking up at those old Fairchild Flying Boxcars flying over and to drop us supplies and ammo probably branded twin booms in my mind! Another memory that was instilled was "Broken Crackers" in our C-Rations when a chute failed to open! Those were fun days! Good job W4UAV !

Yes, its a Canon S500. The original fuselage was designed for a glow engine, an OS 46. If theres anything else I can do to help let me know.

I'm also designing a twin boom pusher using a "Clark Y" airfoil. Do you use a +/- thrust line with yours? Or is it on a 0 degree incidence?

Printed out your thread to read over later. Plane looks good, though. Did you see my dual pusher build for AP work?
