as long as you are not using HRS with no digital servos then you will be ok. if u are using HRS with no dogital servos you will know it very quikly because it will burn them up. also DSM, or spectrum works in these radios, however futaba does not reccomend it, and by using it voids all warranties.

If you ever have to waranty your 3PK and you have used the DSM module, do not ever tell Futaba that. Before you send it in, simply slap on the original Futaba TX module.

I should also add, I made the mistake of telling Futaba that I have been using ths DSM module. I still sent it in and the replaced my LCD (the display was screwed up) and it only cost me about $37. They told me that so long as the DSM module was not the cause of the problem, then the warranty work would be done without any additional charges.

This is ym first high-end radio, so i dont know what to expect. I was wondering, How confusing are the menus? Is it preatty easy to figure out and get the radio set-up? Also does the 3PKS Synth come with the Advanced wheel positioner thing? Every time i see pro races the guys with the thing have the wheel dropped straight down, and i was just wondering if it came with the radio, looks like a cool feature

Rs43EVOman i dont know how the change the crystals out. i would imagine that the module would open up somehow, but i am not sure. why didnt you get the synthesized one? just curious. i am still researching radios, and i am pretty much decided on the 3pk, but i was just wondering if there was a benefit to getting the crystalized one over the synth.

You can't! You need to get a new module for every frequency you are going to use.
Why didn't you buy the synthesized module?

Synth all the way. Crystals are old tech and there's no benefit at all.

The module is removable....You just slide the cover off towards the side where the charge jack is, then the whole module pops out. There's a metal piece that covers the crystal, just remove that carefully, then you can pull the crystal out....

On the upper left of the 3PK just under the lid that houses the TX module and in front of the big black circle (the round cover for the left-hand conversion), you will see a small recessed black square with XTAL written under it. This is the crystal access.

You can change the crystal by taking out the TX module and prying the little metal plate off. (it is only heln on by take adhesive or sticker adhesive; it's not hard to take off.) Under that, you will see the crystal with the little paper tab tucked neatly forward. Just take a sewing pin to reach in and pull out the paper tab. This tab will tell you what frequency your TX module is operating at. Pull the paper tab to yank out the crystal; and if you have another crystal, slap it in!

If you change your Tx frequency, BE SURE to also change your receiver the same frequency.

Let me warn you, acording to the laws governing the FCC, changing your own crystals in your radios and receivers is illegal (I don't know why this retarded law was even passed).

Yah i saw that sawuare on the module, how hard should i have to pry to get it off, i thought that might be it, but i didnt want to try too hard, and mess anthing up. What should i use to pery it out, i could do it with a small screw driver. Think it would be eaiser if i took off the cover of the module?
