It is not tuned incorrectly it is tuned for my needs I am not a racer.
I drive my truck for fun in my spare time and the way I have it tuned works very well for me.
It starts when I want it too,It has lots of power and is perfectly set up as a backyard basher.
I will not argue with you anymore on the subject, everyones got an opinion on how to stop these engines I just gave mine.

the purpose of this thread was to inform people on the correct way to do it, then it got sidetracked with other people posting incorrect ways that'll just cause problems for others.

Nowhere on here was I asking for an opinion.

i just got off the phone with lhs pro that been racing here for years and he said there is really no good way to shut them down all the above mentioned -plugging exhaust, pinch line, bump flywheel ways are correct it just depends on what works for you and none of them will increase engine life
i personnally plug exhaust i personnaly put over 10 gallons threw pos tornado xp and still ran strong

i dont really think the 2 seconds it leans out is going to hurt engine

anyways thanks for pointing it out and giving your opinion on the matter but eveeryone has there own likes and dislikes

This is how i stop mine....

Doesn't make for a long engine life but it gets the job done.

By what law is your way correct? It seems to me that there are a few ways that are correct, if yours is the only correct way then a few references are in order. It seems we have a moderator in the thread and you dont like his answere and so on and so on. So what do you have?

thats because in his method, his whole setup is wrong. when you are driving, your car should NOT stop with the brakes on no matter how long you hold it. A: its tuned wrong, and B, his linkages are wrong!

If you bump the flywheel, you are slowing the engine down for one thing, and you are stopping it too. By far the safest way to stop an engine and guarantee it wont break down.

Its common sense! Think about how many times you pinch it... the engine revs up and dies. Thats the WORST possible way to stop the engine. Next to it, is plugging the exhaust AND air filter. Plugging exhaust forces fuel into the engine, thus killing it (excess pressure can and will cause parts to fail). Doing so to the filter forces foreign objects into the engine.

Come on, common sense! The next best thing to do is to loosen the glow plug to lose compression.

duh, rotate it. A flywheel isn't that hard to turn... again, common sense. every engine should be set to BDC after every run.

its always a good to make a mark on the flywheel that lets you know when the piston is on the bottom.

word

I almost forgot to add that. Use a permanent marker to mark your flywheel.

Ehroof, who has been in this hobby longer? me or you? I've been in it for 16 years now.

if you want to cause premature damage to your engine, be my guest! I've had my engines all live over 15 gallons on race fuel. When u get there, i'll use your method.

whats that? one who is smarter? then yes.

Been racing nitros since the release of the OS cv-R. Not only race, but i travel when I can too.

pinching, almost as dangerous to an engine as letting it over rev. Ever snap a rod that way? You can do the same by pinching it because it leans out and over revs.

its best to remove the air filter and put finger over the carb this way is sucks in fuel and floods out. I have been putting my finger on the exhaust when i have to and i have had no problems. I usually run them till there out of fuel. I dont think it really matters. its not like thy are formula1 race engines that cost $500,000.

the plugging the pipe one is one of those rare things where breakage occurs. I've had it happen twice and just cant risk doing it again. Instead of plugging the air filter (pushing on the element), you can always pinch the air filter elbow and flood it, ehroof. ur way works too but if its dusty, that couple seconds the filter is removed, gets sucked in. after its flooded to shut it down...

Then pull the plug out, drain fuel, turn it over once or twice to drain the fuel from the engine, and drop in after run oil.

When your engines are 200+ a piece, they are worth every ounce of fuel u can get in it.

here is the thing with pinching the fuel line... if the engine doesn't wind up from leaning it, you aren't damaging the engine. But if it is revving up, you run into your risk for damage to internals of the engine.

see where i'm coming from?

i think what he is trying to say is that if your low end needle is tuned correctly when you pinch the line it would rev the engine since its not running lean. either way, plugging the exhaust is the easiest, any other way is difficult with the body on.
