I just finished the Super Lazy Ace, 96" span. Modifications include slight dihedral to top wing (matching the lower wing), less cowl hanging down, Stits covering, ZDZ 80cc twin. It's snowing here, so I don't know if it will get airborne before Spring. I have some images of it, but I can't figure out how to get them into this new RCU forum/post deal. Weight came out at 29 pounds. -Mike

OK, I think I've got it. Here's a picture of the new Super Lazy Ace, started actually two years ago (long story, including a household move). This sure took a lot of lumber! -Mike

GO TO PMs so we don't accidently start an auction.

MARKDAM check out your wifes purse collection for a nice leather job (look for thin and soft) now BEHAVE offer to buy her a new one so you can canabalize the old one for the rim padding. use a heavy duty COLORFAST thread to wrap with and consider a fuel proof sealer.the leather in some of these pursres can be quite high quality.

Hi Mark,
I have a 76 inch Lazy Ace flying with a Homelite 25 cc engine and love it. I am using a 16X8 K series Master Airscrew prop turning somewhere around 7400 rpm. The only problem I am having is slowing down for a landing. I guess I am landing a little to hot, but she wants to baloon if I try to pul the tail down. Have only flew it twice. I was wondering if having the incidense set to 0 on both flat bottom wings ( as directed by Chuck ) may be my problem. Anybody has any comments?

Hi Redrum, I think the G23 is a little too heavy for that plane. You may be able to lighten it up a bit by using electronic ignition but this will not save you a lot of weight. The four stroke .91 would be a much better match. I am using a 25cc homelite on my 76 inch Lazy Ace and it flies scale. Could use just a little more power. Hope this does not confuse you to much.

This was my first giant-scale project, built back in 85'. Cunningham Super Lazy Ace. 98" wingspan, 32 lbs., G-62 and finished with Sig Koverall and dope.
Hanging from the ceiling now, though one day I'll resurrect her!

Hi, has anyone built a 76" Lazy Ace and flown with a .60 2stroke engine?

I'd like to know how the engine performed on a plane this size ?

I am not into too much aerobatics just want to cruise around.

Would the engine be struggling ?

Vic
