Status: offline 		It will be interesting to see if they show up at Toledo. IT should tell us if they are serious about the electric flight market or not. Heard a rumor today that they had signed an exclusive with a major distributor. LIST PRICE OF SINGLE CELLS $19.95. WHICH TELLS ME THEY ARE NOT SERIOUS! But then they may know the market better than I do and realize that there are few in the hobby today that have the expertise to tear a DeWalt pack down and salvage the cells for $10-12 each. Maybe a new cottage industry opportunity here.

I am now using the 2 cell packs, as rcvr packs (as well as using 4 cell packs in an electric model)
I make the rx pack by adding a std heavy duty JR pigtail- (all three wires ) and some heatshrink. I converted one pack from the two wire pack I got from RC Accessory. I just HAD to see if balancing was really req'd
I access em thru a JR charge plug/switch -- which accepts a JR female plug, adapted to a CellPro charger pigtail
It could not be easier or more simple - I recharge or check whilst refueling the gas tank on my 33% /42% or 27% gassers
the big gasser gets two packs simply because it has dual switches in place and 5 more ounces on 40 lbs means nada.
It is really handy to plug in and see "remaining is 80% charge " on the Cell Pro screen then the thing is charged up again shortly after refueling .
no friggen regulators either --
One other thing-- waiting for final balancing is really not worth the delay just as soon as you see 100% --
go fly but rebalance if you want to --
I also got one of the Dapter chargers for my ASTRO super 12
this is really slick - I use the "goose mode" and up comes the voltage --and STAYS up! big surprise. They should call it the Viagra mode.
My airyplanes is all changing to 123 cells.

Amazing when there are a dozen DeWalt 36 volt packs on e-Bay right now at a max cell cost of $15 including shipping. Making your own packs from these is SO easy a cave man could do it. You can come up with a couple 4S packs without having to solder between the cells, just add the leads and balance connector of your choice. Make up packs using the MEC power tube concept with the other two cells - buy two DeWalt packs and end up with 5 4S packs for under $300. I've been flying the A123 packs since June - and they are fantastic in my 40 size electric conversions.

Status: offline 		These cells are $15.50 each from MEC, but they don't have solder tabs (set up for the Power Tube). I think we will see a lower price from Horizon eventually, but they don't like to undercut their LHS customers.

II am confused. Hobbico said they thought that the 2- 2 cell 7.4 volt batteries would be needed to operate this plane. But that would be 1 volt short of the 8.4 volt pac's they reccomend.
Looking over these specs. what would you reccomend?

Is it possible to use the entire Dewalt 36v power pack in a model application? I'm thinking of using the DeWalt power pack in my Seawind on the assumption that it might be a bit safer if dunked.

Yes, same as C diameter 1.024 inches, but some what longer than a C cell. A123 is 2.62 inches, C is 1.97 inches

That brings up another. Why is it that can only get 2300 capacity in this size? If it was a nimh battery it would have 6000 + at far less voltage though.
