Thanks Andrew. Your efforts are appreciated greatly. I called and left a message for the fellow cutting my box for me. He was supposed to get back from vacation today. I will update just as soon as I find something out, and hopefully we can get this project trudging forward!

Stick
My buddy is supposed to be finishing up my parts after work this evening, so hopefully he gets them to me, and I can have them to your doorstep by the first of the week. He said if there was anything else needed that he would be happy to cut it, but even though I appreciate his help, I think I could have done it quicker with a butter knife. Airplanes are not his gig though, so I am sure he don't quite understand the importance of that which he is cutting. Anyhow, hope I can get it to you soon so you put them to use.

The elevators are just about finished. They'll be shipping out next week.

I'll be happy to see them. I have been collecting other materials to build the fuse. The short kit is just that. Fuse sides and the remainder of the formers, and the interplane struts, and their mounting plates. Talked to Gordon last night, and he and Mike were finalizing the airfoil selection for the wing cores. We should have the sheeted wings shortly (many thanks to Gordon Boulton and Mike Dunphy) You guys should maybe consider ordering hobby supplies from this guy. He is a busy Hobby Shop owner, and is donating his time and materials to this build. Maybe gordon can include his business phone number, and/or a link to his shop. Back to the fuse build; There is sheeting, stringers, dowells (for the visible cockpit structure) and a number of other items that had to be purchased, and pilfered from my supply. The fuse build will go rather quickly, and on the CubNut for covering, or does RCKen want it first? Please advise.

I would really like for someone to do a total assembly and hook up all the controls etc: before I do the covering job. I would hate to get it covered and have somebody have to hack this up to get the controls and linkages figured out. I always like to have all the control horns mounted and everyting hooked up before covering then disassemble everything for covering. I will then be able to locate all the mounting holes that are covered and open them back up for final assembly after paint.
I know everyone has their own building style and methods but this one works good for me. We also need to determine whether we want to cover the tail surfaces before attaching to the fuse or after. I will leave that up to the guy who will be doing the final assembly, I can cover them either way.

I usually hinge before I cover on my builds. But I also can go whichever direction the group wants to go.

Thanks for pointing this out, Bill. I'm going to threadjack for just a moment here if I can, and expand on this a bit.

Mike Dunphy and his wife, Maureen Dunphy, own PAC RC, the LHS I shop at. They have also done business in the past as Precision Aero Composites, and their son, Scott Dunphy, was relatively well known a few years back as an extraordinary wing sheeter. They've been in and around this hobby for several decades, and have a truckload of experience and knowledge. Mike, in fact, has been a judge at several TOC's, and most recently at the most recent Don Lowe Masters.

More importantly, however, they are FANTASTIC people. I've never done business with ANY organization, large or small, that knows more about customer service. They bring a genuine concern for both the hobby and hobbyist to their business, and it shows in every transaction. Quite honestly, I wouldn't have even DREAMED of starting my Bulldog without knowing Mike was around to help out. As Bill points out, this guy works a regular 40+ hr/week job, then goes and helps his wife at the LHS, and somehow finds time (DONATED time) to cut a set of wings for a group he's never met. That tells ya something I think.

I'm not going to turn this into a big sales speech...however, if you'd like to call them for anything, their number is 615-220-0655. We're also working on a website for them as you read this, which should be avilable before long...I'll pass that information along when it becomes available.

Sorry for the threadjack, but I really wanted everyone to know just what kind of folks these are. Thanks, Bill.

Gordon,

We owe him at least that much. The plight of the LHS is well known, but a lot of us don't care. I will willingly pay more in order to buy it from my LHS than from some .com establishment who does not care when or if I complete a project. I'm just a number to them.

Talked with Gordon over the weekend (if any one is looking at this thread any longer) and he was at Mike's shop, and they were cutting the wing cores. I am going to finish the wings myself, so they will have a spar added, and will be sheeted. Anyone got any problems with that? The cores should be here sometime this week. I'm going to need to purchase the spar material, as well as the T.E. and the L.E. material and the sheeting. I'll hit my LHS owner up for a donation.

It would be nice if you guys would set up a PayPal account for this project. I would be happy to make a small monetary contribution to the project and I'm sure others would too. With PayPal it would be easy to donate everything from $1 to whatever. This way you would have some cash to buy some nessecary glue, wood etc.

Tychoc,

Perhaps one of the administrative types will do that. There have been some donations already, so perhaps they can do this. I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
