Somehow I missed this post. I was under the assumption that I was building the elevators (which started out as the H-Stab, but Krossk beat me to it so I picked up the Elevators) Anyway, I have a set of elevators (just need to be final sanded) if they are needed, if not I'll hang them on my wall to remind myself not to procrastinate.

I received a nice pair of elevators today. Thanks.

I know people have commitments and responsibilities,
This this is well on it's way and I for one am not ready to let it die. We have almost all the pieces to build the airframe and we have the covering material. I do not know how much dontated money we have?? It would be nice to know if we have enough money donated to buy an engine or if we need more?? I would almost bet when and if we get the airframe completed a sponsor may come up with an engine.
Let's keep it moving and get it done!!!!
Anthony

I am still here. I should have posted an update earlier I know. I am struggling a bit with the landing gear because the material I have for it is a little hard to work with. I originally wanted 6061 T6 aluminum and I got 2024 instead. It's a little harder for me to work with than the other but the company that supplied it was very interested in the build we are doing and I didn't feel it was right to complain as they gave it to me at a very good price not to mention that they are a very busy shop whose owner took the time out of his schedule to cut the blanks.
I am trying to develop the necessary skills to use this material with some scrap that I have but if that doesn't satisfy me I'll have to get the material I am comfortable with.
I don't want to rush the landing gear as I did the cabanes as Bill will tell you. Those could have been better finished before I shipped them such as polishing and such. I just wanted to get them to him since they are an integral part of the fuselage.
Thanks everyone for contributing and for Bill for having the patience to put up with the rest of us who for the most part have never undertaken such a project.

Just to let you all know, I haven't done anything on my own projects since this build started since time is very precious as you all know.

In any case, I have to thank you all for giving me the opportunity to contribute to the project and develop some new skills.

Take your time. We are not on a time schedule any longer. There was absolutely nothing wrong with the cabanes that you shipped. There are no work marks that need to be removed prior to polishing or painting the cabanes. It's guys such as yourself that make me want to complete the project. My hat is off to you guys who have come through for the rest of us.

Bill,

Sorry i didn't get wings and cowl shipped to you last week, as I expected. They're done, I just haven't made myself find suitable shipping containers yet...I'll get on that this week.

My buddy is supposed to be finishing up my parts after work this evening, so hopefully he gets them to me, and I can have them to your doorstep by the first of the week. He said if there was anything else needed that he would be happy to cut it, but even though I appreciate his help, I think I could have done it quicker with a butter knife. Airplanes are not his gig though, so I am sure he don't quite understand the importance of that which he is cutting. Anyhow, hope I can get it to you soon so you put them to use.

Any word on the Formers and the tank box. I have not heard anything since 4 January. What's going on?

Wow. Its been so long since I have been on RCU that they have even changed the way things look around here. Sorry I have been gone for a few weeks, but glad to see that things are continuing once I got back. Bill was worried about me and sent me and email, but funny thing is I was worried nobody was doing anything because when I got home there was not a single email from RCU in my inbox regarding this post. However it does seem that people are still carrying on which is good. I don't know why I stopeed getting email notifications though. Maybe you have to post every so often or something. Anyhow, thats not really important, and just glad to see Bill checking to make sure I had not kicked the bucket or something. I've just been slacking, and been away. I'll see what I can do about making up for lost time.

The reason that you did not get any e-mail from the site is due to the fact that there was/has not been much activity here.

Yea, I see that now after looking at the post dates. I hoped that not everyone would be slacking like me. I guess we will have to try to breath some new life into this. One thing I noticed is that it is probally hard for some people to actually follow along without many photos. This of course is just the nature of this kind of build, and without photos every step of the way its probally hard for people to follow along, but this is also due to the fact that I have held up a few parts, and I think it is hard for people to visualize just where we are at without going back and reading through the entire thread. I'm not sure there is really anything we can do about this though until you actually have all the components in your hand and people can actually see the Plane starting to come together. During the actual building, covering stage and final assembly is where you will see the most attention here in my opinion, and where people will start comming out of the woodwork to follow progress. I just need to shake off these winter blues, get my head out of my a#@, and do more to chip in and get this idea rolling again. The fact that this has been an extreme challenge thus far will make it that much sweeter when it is complete I guess.

Hope it does not turn into a welfare Caddy like the song To bad people out here can not watch its progress. Pictures would help keep interest.
