just a thought or idea guys. You mentioned that the test model goes slightly tail heavy when the wiing swings. Is it possible to place a sufficient weight on a worm gear that would or could travel forward and back as the wing swings? Just an idea......

Question - when you guys are finished flying this bird around - probably all over the country if you can... are you going to donate it to someplace? It's such an amazing example of your skill and NOT cutting corners to get a perfect product. I was just curious. If it were me I might have a hard time letting go of it. That's for sure.

Hi Butch and Bob

I cant wait till each new video is posted its the highlight of my day watching them. Now dont take offence at this question as it is not meant as anything other than a question. Who is going to do the test flights?. I like to think I am a pretty reasonable pilot but if it was me I would be getting the absolute best skilled pilot you guys know to be doing the test flights. I haven't seen anyone ask this yet. I am not casting aspertions on bob's or butch's flying skills at all they may be gun pilots, I dont know but it was just a question of interest. All I know is if it was me doing this project I would be using someone other than myself who is the best to fly it

Bob will be test flying the "Bomber". He is a very good pilot ! He's not one of those guy's that builds a great airplane and then can't figure out how to start it ! Ha ! Then I have a feeling that DCM will be next. I won't try to fly it till mine is done and then I'm sure I will be nerves as HELL ! Thanks for eveyones support, October is coming fast !

Your robot is very nice. My little brother has a "SHOPBOT" it is a 3D CNC cutter. I wish it was in my basement.

Butch: What format are you using.
I need the f-101 VOO DOO in .DWG or .DFX FORMAT... Terry thinks he can cut it on his Shopbot..

I use Rhino and it has a CAM program built in. And I'm not smart enough to tell you what I am doing I just do it ! If DCM is watching he can probably tell you what you want to know.

As of right now we are going to use 2 screw jacks that are computer controled. One screw jack per wing. That may change but thats what were going for first. We have a guy making the set-up ,I know it will work but can't tell you how.

I understand that, "BUT" there is a distance and access problem with the wings and pivot points. I don't think everyone has a scope of what is going on with this plane. "IT IS BIG" and normal building techniques just don't work or just aren't do-able. I don't know how to tell everyone I have been working on this for 8 years and thinking about how to make everything work. I just didn't wake up yesterday and decide to build a GIANT FOAM AIRPLANE. And we have several modelers and full scale aviation people that we consult everyday. If there is a problem it would be we may have over thought the project. Don't mean to rant, but it keeps me awake sometime wondering if everything is going right! Thank God Bob came along and said "JUST DO IT" (hope that Nike doesn't sue Bob over that, Ha!). It will fly in October and I hope everyone can show up and watch. Bring your planes and have a fun weekend.

Did you see that Cook is making an pneumatic cylinder that makes 300 lbs of push , at 100 PSI of air. the drive rod is 1/2 Inch solid steel.
Might be usable somewhere on this monster.

Hey Butch,

How did you get the shape of the B1 into the computer? 3D laser scanner of a model? Reinvented the wheel? What?
