I have a CNC router. 50"x108"x10". I had to split the fuse up into 34 pieces so I could cut it. Wish I had a 5 axis machine. I will put more pictures this weekend as I cut them out. Butch

Is the router home made or commercial? Are you the one who had a gear mock-up at the Southwest Jet Rally about 2002?

It is a commercial router. It is made by EZCNC. It's not the greatest machine but it is great for what I use it for. Yes that was the gear. It was 1/14th scale,it is going to enlarged. Paul Stelly is helping with the project, he will be making the gear and what ever else he wants to do. Butch

Josh, the foam is known as Square Edge. It is the only type that is available in 4 inch thick sheets ( 2 ft by 8 ft slabs).
Good luck on your search.

Holy Crap! Are you trying to compensate for something?

Is this going to be a one off, or are you going to make molds? Are the wings going to swing? What are going to power it with?

Too many questions, sorry.

Very nice work,

John

HI Hustler58,

I am really impressed with your project, i am also doing same on my S Connie project, but wondering why did you used Blue foam instead of white foam, its is my understanding that blue foam is more denced and that is why its heavier in weight compaired to white foam?, other question is, after cutting out all the foam parts what will your next step be, are you planning to sheet the whole airframe with balsa sheeting or going to glass it over the foam....i am at that stage also so wondering my options currently...

This is going to be a Plug. I will be putting 3 layers of glass over the foam and filling and sanding it till it smooth. White foam expands and contracts to much. If you are planing on making more than one you should make plugs and molds. It is a pain but worth it in the long run.
