It will probably be the sweetest Sherman ....EVER!!!(Napoleon Dynomite)

But,....can you back this statement up??????
And hopefully will not have the same crappy electronics as the 1/9 Abrams and 1/6 Stuart!!!!
Will I need to upgrade another tank????????

Paraphrasing an email reply from 21st Century to another tanker, the message is that they're considering it, although no definite release date is scheduled, and to check back on their website for updates. Some people have seen and driven the prototype. I wish I could give you more information. I think a 1/6 Sherman would be a huge hit. It goes perfectly with their 1/6 Stuart, and there's so much history behind the Sherman. A Sherman at 1/6 would probably be the size of an Abrams at 1/9. From a manufacturing and packaging point of view, it makes sense. The downside will probably be the electronics and drive systems to keep down the costs.

If the tracks of their 1/6 Sherman are as good as the Stuart's, then we might have something really special here. Imagine a pair of high torque 12volt motors powered by Tamiya's Sherman DMD? Plus large speakers and amplifier? And smoke? Oh, no . . .

I've seen a pic of 1/9 abrams broken from simple outdoor use... I hope they use stronger materila for this one.

The 1/9 Abrams is the exception.

One has to remember that the 1/6 scale M5 Stuart had already existed as an unpowered "push toy" for the Ultimate Soldier figure series so at least it had to be tough enough for play use. A simple adaptation for RC was all that they needed. The Abrams had to be designed from the ground up and this is where I believe they made some mistakes and cut some corners on the suspension and running gear--not sure why they did though. I'd prefer they over-engineer their products; make it tougher than it needs to be.

Hopefully they will learn from the successes of the M5 and the failures of the M1.

I found this picture, but I cannot find any information on it. Could this be the Sherman that you are talking about, or is it just a big, plastic toy?

Beautiful!! Whew . . . it looks like an enlarged version of 21st Century's 1/18 Sherman. This is amazing. Thank you, Slick!! . I've got to find some practical, inexpensive motor upgrade for these larger tanks. The tracks look good . . . wow . . .

SLICK!! Would you buy one of these giants? I'm guessing the price would be $300 to $350. I hope HenLong will release a 1/8 Tiger to keep this beast company . . .

I would buy one for the same price as the Stuart or Abrams ($150.00), but I could never spend $300.00+ on one.....that is almost another Tamiya.

Even my six year old daughter knows that you can't mix scales like that! It is not natural.

Mixing the scales will yield oddballs like "1/7". Nobody wants their tanks to not fit in with all the other armor!

2007 is going to be a "feeding frenzy", a tanker's paradise. With Tamiya releasing a new model, with 21st Century's 1/6 Sherman, HenLongs Panzer III and possibly a 1/8 Tiger . . . oh . . . Trumpeter might releas a KVI!! Tax your folk the arms race is on!!

The scale was one of the reasons I didn't get the M1 (that, and I would have had to move the TV out of the model room), if you're gonna have big stuff, it should match scales!

A Sherman would look great next to my 2 Stuarts!

I predict you would spend $300 on one - I predict everyone here would gladly spend $300 on one.

Any word on this or was it just a pipe dream?

If there is/was a bonafide prototype in existence, then this whole endeavor certainly has some credibility...
