Hi I am new to this forum and helis. I have a blade cx with about 3 hours of hover time. Today I was flying out side when the cx fell to the ground like it had a blade clash. After looking at it the blades were fine. Set it down and went to take off, it just spins on the ground. No change when trying to correct with the sticks. At full power it still just sits and spins. I have the 4 in 1 case mod done. New blades. Checked the swash plate. The top rotor shaft is secure on the gear at the bottom with the metal collar. The top rotor will spin with the gear held if a little force is applied. the rotor head is spinning on the shaft. I noticed the inner shaft dose not do this. I am wondering if the 4 in 1 might be blown? I power down as soon as it gets out of shape. Any help would be great.

Thanks.

I sounds like it might have a problem. Does one of the motors sound like it is skipping or do they sound normal. Skipping or twitchy is a sign of a blown 4n1.

Test
Remove 1 motor plug at a time from the 4n1 and run it to see which motor is acting up. Try the good motor on the bad motor port to see if the 4n1 has the problem or the motor.

If you have ever crashed or have installed the heat sink you might want to setting the gear mesh as I describe in this message http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/fb.asp?m=4672585

Hope this helps

Thanks. The motors sound fine. Cant tell if they are winding up to full speed. I have installed a heat sink but I have flown it since then. But I will follow your suggestions and post latter what I find. Thanks again.

I checked the gear mesh. Seams a little tight compared to what my r/c car back ground has taught me. But I think the problem is else were. I noticed when I just plugged up one motor the top rotors motor is not spinning the blades as fast as the bottom. I think it might be the rotor head is spinning on the inner shaft. I will get the blue metal head and inner shaft upgrade tomorrow and post what happens.

My slipping usually showed up under sudden heavy throttle conditions. Even when my outer gear was slipping badly the both rotors would spool up to full RPM. Does the LED on the 4-n-1 turn red when you give it full throttle? Do you have a second battery to try? LiPos don't like impacts. I use black Insta-Cure CA to eliminate gear/head slippage--much cheaper than the aluminum center shaft (which obviously won't cure outer shaft slippage, if that is a problem).

Yea, Car, Plane and now Helios...

I just bought the aluminum upgrade today and will try to install in a little bit. If you had a crash then all this started, could be busted top roter head, bend inner shaft.

The metal rotor upgrade fixed it. The head would slip just enuff at full throttle to not take off. I did not have a crash just started in mid air. Oh well its blinged out now. Looks like a tmax Oh it has a vibration like the head is a little off. Any one else have this proble with this upgrade?
