Bill:

Do you know of any issues of using the Twinsync 2.1.2 board with a Spektrum Receiver?

I have found one issue so far using the Twinsync (version 2.X only) with the spectrum receiver. I have found that on the first 50 units produced of the 2.X twinsyncs the aux channel may not be 100% with the spectrum receiver because of the voltage of channels 5+. There is a simple fix that you or I can do for that.

I got your email about your problem and have tried to get in touch with you. The spectrum is a 2.5V receiver at it's core. So please try any other receiver (besides a spectrum or Futaba 14X) and see if that cures your problem. If it does then I probably know what is going on. I was not planning on sending you a new IC until we talked since the test I asked you to do passed. I do not have enough info yet to know what your problem is.

Just got off the phone with tblackstone sounds like the concern was servos will cycle after holding down down both buttons while in position 7 after power on which is a factory reset.

ans: This is expected. After doing a factory reset in programming postion 7 the buttons then progrm servo direction. The servos will cycle if you continue to hold them down because after the device resets everything to factory defaults the buttons reverse the servo direction like powering on in position 7 with no buttons pushed.

Bill:

Sorry - I should have re-phrased that question better. Currently I'm running the twinsync with a JR XP9303 tramsmitter and the R649 9-Ch PCM receiver.

I was hoping to purchase the Spektrum upgrade kit for my JR radio and a DSM2 AIRMOD JR-COMPATIBLE w/AR9000 receiver, so right now, it's not a contributing factor.

I'll run the additional test we talked about on the phone this evening and I'll let you know the outcome.

Hi Bill,

I have one of the first 50 twinsyncs you produced as beta units. It has been sent back to you for an update, but that was around a year ago (I'm really not sure). I finally ran the unit in my new P-38 for the first time yesterday (powered bt two Brison 3.2s), and noticed mid range oscillation, as well as what I think is a lag in synchronization at the top end. I've read through most of this thread, and i get the impression that there might be some software improvements to help with these problems. How can I determine what software version I currently have? Also, where can I download the latest manual?

Thanks,

Howard Kahn

Hi Bill,

is it possible to use your twinsync and its remote glow drivers with two Saito 170 3 cylinder radial engines? Is the max current of the glow driver sufficient for three glow plugs?

Greetings from Germany,
Peter

Guys
I would really appreciate any input re the remote display units.
I have a twinsync with a 2 pin connector on the board, this is according to the manual the display connector and has one pin for ground and one for signal.

The manual talks about two cables running from the remote display one attached to an Aux channel on the twinsync or any Rx socket and is for powering the unit. The other cable is attached to the twinsync at the 2 pin connector and is presumably for signal input.

My problem is that I only have one cable from the remote unit so where does it go. I assume that if I connect it to the 2 pin connector on the twinsync that it will receive a signal just fine but what will then power the unit?

I had the same problem and this is what Bill sent to me.

"Black and orange go to the two pin connector (black toward the edge
of the board/rotary switch and orange toward the IC). Take an x-acto
knife and lift the locking clip and pull out the orange and red wire.
Put the orange wire beside the black where the red was. Cut off the
third connector slot then. That connector plugs into the two pin
connector. The Red wire then plugs into any twinsync or receiver port
on the middle pin (RX BATTERY +). You can put it into a new connector
with just the one wire if you want."

Cheers

Thanks blade...

you beat me to answering this question. Let me know if you have anymore questions. The displays just have one wire now since the Twinsync 2.0 has a 3 pin display connector. It is the same as the 1.4.X except it has a three pin with power in the middle rather than just ground and signal.

Thanks Blade and yl5295 for the info!!
I assume that it would be fine to graft the red wire onto any +ve supply line?
