It is being used with Spektrum radios with no issues.

Guys,

There is a mistake in the 2.X manual (documentation error only - no problem with the unit). I have sent it to RCS for putting it on thier web site. Mean while you can email me and I can send it to you.

The basic problem in the documentation is in programming position 5 (setting sync and full throttle point) the documenetation has the buttons backwards.

Hi Bill,

Is it not possible to utilize the signal sent from the ignition pick up, thus not having to install a seperate pick up for the synchronizer? A "y" harness?

-M51

Ps. Thanks for doing the update on my old #4.

I built a prototype that sensed the ignition pick up. In order to keep the ignition ground and power seperate from the receiver power and ground it has to be optically isolated. Otherwise spark noise can cause receiver interference. I prototyped a version that read the iginition and was optically isolated. Since not all ignitions operate the same and sensors are different, I determined that there was not enough of a market to justify a seperate product and the support required.

Hi all...

On my TF Cessna 310, the engines are side mounted which makes one of the engine bearers at the top.

I plan to mount the TS pick-up along this top engine beam/bearer with a small block of wood glued to a 5-ply mounting beam screwed to the top engine bearer.. This will place the P/U within specs to the magnet I will install in the 46AX prop/thrust hub.

The P/U will be at approx. TDC.

But, I will mount the magnet at BDC opposite the P/U.

Any problems with this set-up?

Thanks..Bo

sounds perfect...
clearance should be 1/32"-1/8" make sure the correct side of the sensor faces the magnet so that it senses each rotation by flashing the green LED.

Here is the way I plan to mount the pick-up. It is at TDC and I will install the magnet at BDT.

The ply mounting beam will be secured to the top engine beam by screws and keyed in under the fuel tank retainer lip.

The blocks of ply to get the P/U down to the hub will be 30-minute epoxied and also pegged. Then the P/U will have a tab of Goop and heat shrink to hold it in place.

Anybody see aproblem with this arrangement?

Thanks, Bo

Hi Bill,
A little help please?
I am installing on a 3w 50 motor. As you can see(in picture bellow), there are two magnets for the ignition pick up, red and green. Am I able to set the Twin synch to key on these mags? If so, which one?

Thanks,

Dave

Dave,

Plug the sensor into the twinsync and power it with a RX battery. Then wave each side of the sensor over both magnets. One side of the sensor detects NORTH and the other side detects south (Green LED comes on when it is sensed). Then you will know which magnet is pointing which direction. If one is pointing north and the other is pointing south then you are in business. Just mount the sensor so that the green LED comes on once per rotation.

If both are pointing north or both are pointing south then you can not use these magnets because that will cause two sensed magnets per rotation (espically since they are mounted 89 deg rather than 180 deg apart). If this is the case you will have to mount another magnet for the twinsync (far enough apart so the ignition and twinsync sensors are not affected by the other magnet.

Bill

Hi Bill,

I have a couple of questions about your TwinSync. Is it possible to talk via telephone rather than lengthy posts?

Bill:

I've been setting up my twinsync 2.0 with the Spektrum AR9000 and saw some issues with syncing. It seemed it would go to full throttle, then, extremely fast, jump back to mid throttle. You were mentioning to a individual back in Septermber about the voltage from a PCM receiver being different from what is expected. You also mentioned the Spektrum was at 2.5 volts. Do you believe this the same issue the PCM receiver was seeing?

You mentioned a "pull up" fix on the board might resolve this issue. You said you had a .pdf on the subject?

Thanks!

Tom

Do a quick check for me. Turn everything on. Put transmitter at mid stick. The turn off the transmitter. Tell me if the throttle servos go to full throttle or idle?

second thing is the aux channel connect between the Rx and the twinsync?
