Status: offline 		I am FINALLY ready for the twinsync...Ok, got it installed (using DX-7) in a 80" CL-415, ready to bench test everything at the field...I have a question as to how to set up the rudder steering ala float planes and non-steerable nose wheels...It is probably something REALLY simple and that is exactly why I can't seem to figure it out is that I am REALLY simple...Thanks for any help with this...Kevin Dube' in Denver, Colorado USA

I have a twin sync version 2.4 which when I used it a 92” P-38 with glow engines and had no issues other than maybe a little hunting to find sync. I am repowering with two 22CC Mintor engines with one running in the opposite direction to the other. I put a test stand together to learn the best setup. I have a common ignition battery for the 2 Rc Excel ignitions. I have noticed that the ignition battery leads if placed parallel and near the hall effect pickup leads, leads to the Sync thinking that the engine associated with the close sensor wire has shut down. It goes into the engine out fail safe. Obviously it is a RF interference issue. The questions I have are about possible shielding methods. First, I realize separation is my biggest friend. A problem with that is that there is only a narrow passage way from each boom engine nacelle back to the central pod. Maybe I should have 2 separate ignition batteries and switches kept in the nacelles (boom) along with the ignition boxes, but kept away from the pickups. The receiver and the sync are to be in the central pod. I would use 2 of your optical ignition cutoffs, but place them next to the ignition modules. The other part of the solution might be using shielded wires in part of the system. Do I shield the ignition battery wires as they seem to be the source, Do I shield the pickup wires to isolate them from the interference? Do I try to shield the Sync board? And if I try to shield these wires with let’s say a shielded Belden cable, where would the shields be tied to? The ignition battery negative? In Machines I have wired, the shields in the main cabinet are grounded to a plc ground. Is there such a thing in my airplane? Would it be the case that the motors can be that shield ground, or is that just looking for trouble? Or could I simply tie one shield end of each shielded cable to a common point? I would appreciate any information you might share with me on this problem.

Selector Switch Position 6:

This is the mode where the use and function of an Auxiliary channel (AUX CH) is defined.
The LEDs display the mode the device is in when in this programming mode.
The following table allows the user to determine what mode you are in:

Red Yellow Yellow
ON   ON      ON        1. AUX CH not USED – Glow plugs based on RPM
ON   ON      OFF      2. Independent Run Up Mode – Glow plugs based onRPM
ON   OFF    ON        3. AUX CH turns sync on and off – Glow plugs via RPM
ON   OFF    OFF      4. Rudder steering of throttles – Glow plugs based on RPM
OFF ON      ON        5. AUX channel controls GLOW PLUGS (default)
OFF ON      OFF      6. No dead stick detection w/AUX controlling glow plugs

You wil have mode 4...so the red led must be on, and the yellow leds must be off.
Just push the buttons until the leds are on the mode you want.

Status: offline 		Followed the instructions and Twinsync worked flawlessly!

As stated in previous posts- key is setting everything up mechanically matching engine RPMs at both idle and max throttle as close as possible before engaging and setting twinsync.

First Flight- Ziroli P-38 with twin DA-60s turning 22-10 3 blade props, no engine bench time!

1. Add more distance between RPM sensor wire and ignition, ignition battery, spark plug wire, plug boot, and engine case
2. Must have metal braid shielded plug wire and metal grounded spark plug boot
3. Copper foil tape wrapped arround the ignition, spark plug wire and boot grounded to ignition battery minus.
4. Coper foil tape wrapped arround RPM sensor wire grounded to Rx battery minus

I have just finished my ziroli p38 with the twinsync and i'm having some syncin issues. I have made a video so you can listen to the sound. It seems one engine is running higher rpm for a while than the other when moving the trottle. With the throttle at the same position the engines seem to sync. Could this be relatee to the timing you think? How can i adjust the timing with the selector in pos.4? Witch button to press? The engines are dle55 gassers and are individually tuned first and setup with the same mechanical linkages and normal multiplex karbonite servos. The engines seem to pick and sync up fine on the ground...
